Hospital ER this past weekend

Recommended Posts

Joining Scott and Chris in the medical department and spent a good portion of Sunday in the ER after not feeling well for a few days. My right lower leg was hurting and was swollen when I woke up in the morning plus developing a huge red rash on it. After a full round of blood tests and an ultrasound on my legs checking for blood clots, all came out good.

Right now, the diagnosis is Cellulitis, which is somewhat painful and is being treated with antibiotics. I'm trying to make an appointment with my dermatologist for today or tomorrow at the latest and if I don't respond to the medication by Wednesday, I'll need to be hospitalized for IV antibiotics. Just seems the older we get; every day is a new challenge.

A heart warning Thanks You to all my forum friends for your well wishes. as they surely made my day. Sunday took me completely by surprise and today I followed up with a specialist. I'm on the right medication and hopefully all will be well.

Between my wife and I, it's always something new medically to deal with and so far, we have been very fortunate to have come through it all.

This is what our forum really is about: friendship, caring and being here for each other.

Hi Peter, hope you're feeling better.  A couple of weeks after having ACL surgery in my early 20s, I had intense pain in my leg when I stood up that they thought was either cellulitis or possibly phlebitis.  That was some of the most intense pain I've ever had in my life, but thankfully it went away after a week or so (no meds or antibiotics for me though).  Hope your prognosis is better!

Thanks guys so much. I'm starting to feel a lot better as the medication appears to be working wonders.

Unfortunately, my wife fell in the bedroom last night and we were so lucky after our trip to the ER and a CT scan, nothing was broken and just a bit sore. We need to be more vigil and careful, take our time and avoid situations where falls can occur.

Thank goodness she’s okay.   We’re heading out of town and we stopped for lunch.  Found out greasy tile floors in McDonald’s don’t mix well with a walking cane.  Thankfully I found out without going down.
One cannot be too careful as we age.

Good to hear you are on the mend, Peter. As you point out, as we grow older, medical issues have a nasty tendency to creep on us, and this forum shows it (it also shows that the forum's average age is not that low 😂 ).

I will not bother anyone with more of these health issues, but we have had our share of those in the last year. Things seem to get better now, but the alert was very very very serious and worrying - last Xmas the perspective was very somber at short term - for my elder son ...

Thank you for your good wishes and concerns. Getting older has so many issues we never give thought to until we reach the Golden Years. We're so thankful that we have each other and look forward to each day.

I know you and your family have had your share of serious medical issues and so glad they 'seem to be better now'. There are good days and ones that aren't so good, it's all part of life, I guess. I seem to always be at a loss of words to express how I feel and yet our true feelings do come across.

Thank you for the post and asking how Diane and I are doing. We're hanging in there and I just posted a short update as to the past few months. I'm going to try and work at the bench gain and see how that goes. At least thinking positive helps so much.
