Sorry to hear that Carl and I hope they get it resolved quickly. Hopefully anything will be 'stentable' during the angio. Don't know about over there but here they do most angios now via the arteries in the wrist rather than the groin and it's a whole lot better. Stay strong!

Carl , hope you’re feeling better, glad you had people around you when it happened..........just get well very soon.......

...And that it was a mild one and that people had the presence of mind to know what happening. If you're going to have a Heart Attack, these are the best circumstances to have happen.

Best of luck with recovery, there will be dietary and lifestyle changes ahead at least. I modified my diet last September to get my cholesterol and blood pressure down, and have managed to lose and keep off 10kg since... I was still eating like a man half my age without realising it. And I feel better for it too.

Definitely not model related but it seems that I got my first heart attack yesterday. It happened when I was dropping my boys off at school. Some other parents noticed I went from looking a bit pale to very very pale and combined with the dizziness I was experiencing felt it best I call an ambulance. Sure enough, it was a mild heart attack so over been in the hospital since then. I'm just waiting for an angiogram at the moment to find out what went wrong.

So I'll most likely be away from the bench for a bit but I'll be around here watching what you guys are doing.

Carl

So sorry to hear bud ... I hope the prognosis moving forward is a little more positive ...

Rog :)

I just received this Tamiya 1/32 Mosquito FB Mk VI. I am IMPRESSED!!! A outstanding kit that I know will make a outstanding model. I could kick myself for not getting one sooner. Better late than never though. :)

If I wasn't right in the middle of my HK Mossie B Mk IV I would start this one right away.

Thanks for all well wishes folks. It means a lot to me.

I had the angiogram done this afternoon and the news is mixed. The one they started in my wrist found some blockages that made them concerned so I ended up getting a second one in my groin. That one showed one artery 100% blocked at a weird angle so they couldn't use a stent. There are three additional blockages so the end verdict is sometime this coming week I'm getting a triple bypass.

The doc said it's almost certainly genetic since I'm otherwise healthy and don't smoke but both my parents have had heart issues.

The good news is there is very little tissue damage to my heart.

So I'm definitely going to be away from the bench longer than I thought. But it'll all be there when I get back.

I'll just have to watch you guys crank them out. :D

John, the Tamiya Mossie is an amazing kit.  I've built one and am seriously considering adding a third to the stash.

Just perusing the kit and looking over all the nice details makes me want to make some plans as to which a/c to represent. I'll be ready when building time comes! :)

Banff Strike Wing Mossies are always cool. Or a Coastal Command one...

I agree but I'm thinking of a black underside 418 squadron a/c if I can find decals in 1/32. I already have them in 1/48 so maybe I'll have to rescale them on my computer and print some using my laser printer. We'll see. ;)

John, I'm pretty sure I have those in 1/32. Let me know which plane you're thinking of and when I get out of the hospital and I'm allowed near the bench by Sue I'll look for them for you.

Carl. I am very sorry to learn of your health. I can attest to the fact medicine and practices in our age is first class. Over my 31 months in hospital I got to witness modern medicine up close. I am very impressed.

My advice is: always remember your charger when entering hospital. Get visitors to bring gentle toilet paper. Find the wi-fi password for the hospital. And if you ate too tired to sit in a chair, it is okay to simply lay in bed. No matter how many times the nurses and doctors ask.

Most importantly, show the nursing staff your respect. They enjoy that.

Another thing of note. Try to stay confident. It is my very sad experience that when a patient becomes negative, that patient is in grave danger. I have witnessed this too many times. It is heartbreaking to watch.

Trust in yourself and know you are respected and cared about. Frankly, you matter.

I will be thinking of you and monitoring your progress.

:thumbsup2:

Thanks Dale!

My wife brought me a phone charger the first day which has helped keep me sane. I haven't managed to get a wifi password out of anyone yet so that'll be next. The toilet paper isn't too bad. Maybe 600 grit instead of the 80 you sometimes find.

The nurses and staff are great so far. There's too many health care professionals in my family not to show respect to them. On my way to the hospital, the ambulance crew commented that I hadn't tried to stab, spit or punch them so their day was off to a good start.

I'll do my best to keep you all up to date. In the meantime, have fun at the bench.

Stay positive Carl. Bypass surgery is 'no walk in the park' but at the same time it's also 'no big deal' nowadays, if that makes sense. We see many post-op patients at work and the vast majority thrive afterwards. The rehab can be tedious but if you keep it up the results are worthwhile. A pretty young physio always helps!

Thanks Gus! My dad had triple bypass back in the '90s and he's still with us.  I'm in better shape than my dad was at that time so hopefully that'll count towards something. In the meantime I'll keep an eye out for a pretty young physio

I'm here to visit Carl................... hows it going today?  Typical crappy hospital food too??

I'm good Jeff. Bored mostly.  The food actually hasn't been too bad. Just finished a roast beef sandwich that had flavour. Breakfast was a write-off though as they served two things I have a very hard time getting down: egg whites and oatmeal. It's a texture thing so I just passed on those .

I would have to look over the sheet/subjects. Not sure which one right now.

Edit: After checking I find I don't have 418 decal sheet in 1/48.

We will see Phil. It is such a fine kit I'll have to take my time and a lot of care when building it. It's almost, but not quite, a sin to build it! LOL;)
