Yes, but right now I have a situation to deal with. As I stated earlier, I am

not living at home right now. My mother , age 90, suffered injuries from a

fall. She had multiple fractures to her left humerus and wrist. I have been

living at her home providing care for her. I am away from my bench and will

be for the foreseeable future. I may be able to return to my home and bench

when my sister arrives from Georgia to relieve me for a while. I may at that

time do a quick build.

    The Takom SMK, for example, looks like it can be built quickly.

The most time-consuming part being the tracks. The set of friuls

Sorry to hear about Moms condition.  She’s a bit higher on the importance level than build time.  I took a five year hiatus from life attending Moms needs in the end and another almost 2 years to settle her estate due to covid.  Courts were shut down, “Work from home” employees at the VA didn’t care to get anything done on a timeline (worse than usual) trying to get documents needed, or the SC State Retirement system.  
Edit: Even worse, the IRS. I had forgot how horrible they were at getting her final returns processed. Apparently they were assigned to handing out free money to everyone with the “de-stimulate” the economy checks that we didn’t qualify for.

Two items today........

From HobbyBoss their Soviet T-26 light infantry tank mod. 1935 (82496)

In 1/35. I've been interested in getting one of these for a while but thinking

that it was a small kit and it was a little over-priced put me off.I found one at a 

reasonable price and I was glad to see, upon opening the box, that it

has more parts than I thought, including workable tracks....but I intend

to use the Friulmodel tracks I bought instead. Looks like a nice kit and

I like the subject. I would like to see Takom produce one in 1/16 however, to

go with their panzer 1 kits.

Also today, another box of Friuls; their ATL-35 "Hetzer" late. These I'll use

on my Tamiya hetzer or the Takom Swiss G 13  I bought recently.

Received a few things to help me get this project kicked off, and yet another example of the brain fading...

Quick shipment from Ali at Aerocraft of his terrific clear resin canopies - top for the Revell 1/32 P-51D, and bottom for the F-4 for the GB.  The polish up beautifully.

And, this makes me sad.  Ordered a full set of Quinta cockpit sets a while ago - took a while to arrive which was expected, but completely slipped my mind that I had ALSO purchased the set for the Tamiya F-4E.  Now I have TWO sets I need to dispose of, or I imagine someone is going to suggest just buying a F-4E kit....

The Academy B-35 kits are the old Accurate Miniatures moulds. Overall they're a great kit  for early B-25s.

Interestingly, they share the same cowl issue that the 1/32 HK kits have. The cowl opening is too small. A couple companies make resin replacements or you can sand them to shape.

Today, I received some planes and only a bit of large scale stuff.

The Savoia Marchetti SM 79 Sparviero was on my list from the moment, I first saw that there will be a re-release. The plastic originates from the old Classic Airframes kit and looks a bit robust on firs sight. Eduard added a heap of resin parts for wheels, engines, props, cockpit,... along with some PE to enhance the base kit. I always liked the quirky looks of the Sparviero and built one (Airfix 1/72), when I was a teenager.

 

Next there is another re-pop in 1/48. I always wanted to build a HS-129 and was amazed to see that Hobby 2000 offers a re-release of the old Hasegawa kit, but with Cartograph decals and masks. I added Master gun barrels and might use the kit as a testbed for a white wash winter camo.

The following decal sheet is a last chance buy. I have grown very, hmmh - let´s say ambivalent feeling for HGW´s products over the years. I like their seat belts, even if they manage to get every type of manual wrong. The rest of their range lasts from superfluous like many of their strange designed PE for WNW kits to unusably and crappy, like my set of extra details for my WNW Hansa Brandenburg, where they made none fitting paper inserts for the inside of the fuselage. I can´t imagine anybody used these successfully. In the same set were IP wood decals, that were the most fragile, I ever used.
Speaking of fragile, their wet transfers look great in best case, but to achieve this best case, you have to work really hard, to fulfill the requirements.

The wood decals for my WNW Albatros are my last try on HGW decals. They claim, the fit should be perfect and I hope they are not as fragile as others I used from HGW. This is a new release and if it doesn´t work, it´s the good ole` oil color wood rendering technique.

Not shown is a PE fret for my 1/35 Tamiya Citroen C11, with am etched front grille substituting the plastic.

It is funny how the old Classic Airframes moldings are still so superior to the SM 79 from the relatively recent Trumpeter release. We should have Mediterranean Gb at some point.

the Italian camouflage schemes.

Today some minor stuff....

A couple of decal sets that can be used for the Hobbyboss T-26 '35

kit I recently purchased. 

First, from STAR DECALS, their 35-C 1173 Spanish Civil War T-26 Republican

in 1/35.  Some interesting options are offered.

Second, from ECHELON, their D356060 Markings and Generic Stencils of

Finish Sturmi. Really meant for Finnish StuG III's the Finnish style swastikas

can be used on other vehicles.

I haven't decide on which set I'll use.

Oh, and I bought some Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500.

The other day, I went to my home and returned with some tools to start

a kit at Mom's...I chose the old Tamiya Churchill....I opened the kit....and...

No "Polycaps"!. So, I couldn't start it. I emailed Tamiya USA...they emailed

back that they would send me some....I haven't heard back from them after

I sent them my return address... We'll see.

Grey Mr Surfacer 1500 is obviously easier to find in the US. It's like rocking horse poop over here at the moment. I spent a good hour hunting online for a European stockist with some in last night for use on the Viggen. Finally managed to track down 2 jars on Evilbay.

Four kits today...

From ICM, Hobby Boss, and Tamiya. Three relatively obscure tanks and

a Finnish StuG III... Also, a discussion with Amazon customer

service about how they ship model kits......They ship them in bags!

The Tamiya StuG was shipped in a bag and the box cover....slightly damaged. No big deal.....but seriously... BAGS ?
