It's time to wave a good by to this project, in which I never was so much into, but can't really say why. I repainted some parts of the figure, specially around the eyes and I leave them as they are. As a homework, I will force myself to some bust painting soon. The clothes got matted and dusted a bit.

The Tankette received several kinds of washes, streaks and deposits, oil and grease stains, mud washes and pigments in different earth colors, partly blended with mineral spirit. Then again some metal pigments and lastly, the tools. I will let everything dry till tomorrow and see if I have it in me to continue.

Rob the tankette looks amazing, I do like the subtle weathering and residue dust on the fenders, I’d be happy with the figure, I also must try again as they do animate a vehicle…….

Thanks Phil, I build up residues with mud / earth washes, with added pigments in different earth shades. I start with the darkest and as a last step, everything got blended with mineral spirit. This way the impression of build up residues becomes more 'real', as it flows more into the corners and hidden places, where dirt will always accumulates.
Well the figure, I have the feeling, I let the guy down, being well printed and all, but after all the eye issues, I'm eager to have the Tankette and driver off the bench.

Cheers Rob

Next project coming up. First kit I built when I came back to the hobby but made quite a few mistakes by following the kit instructions and it was sprayed with rattlecan Tamiya AS-12. So plan is to try a proper natural metal finish using AK Extreme Metals. Have also ordered Montex masks for Black Panther and may invest in some metal barrels.

Wonderful work on the figure and I’ve always felt figures are a true art form of their own. I know the issues you have had with the eyes and as I look at the figure, I’m immediately drawn right to them. Being the last person who should offer any advice on figure painting,  I think the ‘staring’ look is more from the white of the eyes being possibly too white and maybe a creamy white would soften the look.
Brilliant painting and weathering on the Tankette .. right on the money.

Keep ‘em comin

Gus looking forward to following your upcoming Jug build. Nice choices on the AM sets to add the missing details. I’m close to finishing my Mustang with a NMF and have used both AK Extreme Metals and Alclads and both seem to work equally well. Looking forward to following your build.

Keep ‘em comin

Dragon's Messerschmitt Me-110D1.  The kit is for the Dackelbauch version, but I have a few extra wing tanks lying around so It'll have wings tanks once finished.  Don't like the big belly tank.

Painting on the Me-110.

I used some recycled bills to cut the masks from...    then stuck em on with blutack.

Then pulled them off.

The two greens give off a very 'brown' vibe.

You may be wondering why I didn't do the underside first...   Here is my reason:  The RLM 65 and 71 are MRP paints... which aren't very famous for quick coverage.  So I used a Tamiya RLM 02 to cover up the black sprayed for the fuselage codes.

Merry Christmas!
