Just heard from the shop in Vancouver that the Special Hobby AH-1 is in and mine ships to me Monday. WestCoastHobbys.com $73 CAD plus shipping. 2

This is what's in the Special Hobby boxing. Good enough for me, with maybe a bit of drilling out the barrels. Yours look big on the pic compared to the tools, but maybe this is only optical illusion. The barrel I'm looking to replace is for the ICM late version and is mounted on the port wing pylon. This is how the one in the kit looks. 7
GusMac Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 I'm thinking of starting my Bronco a34 Comet next as I want to build it as a 2nd Fife and Forfar Yeomanry unit as a great uncle served with them through northern Holland and Germany. I'd like to try a diorama and I found this picture as inspiration So, my question is, has anyone built or cast eyes upon this kit? It looks like it would be close enough to the bridge in the picture to pass muster, certainly to my eyes, but I just wondered if anyone had used it and had any comments. Thanks. 7
GusMac Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 Right, I'm calling this one done. Just a quick (by my standards!) OOB build of a kit I got as a present. Overall pretty happy with it as the first helo I've built since the Airfix 1/72 Gazelle as a kid. Goes together well and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the decals. Plan was to do the NMF P47 next but as the post above indicates I may be distracted by the diorama idea! 😁 8 1

Very nice build and paintjob Gus, you are one helo ahead of me, as I built the Gazelle too, when I was young . There are so many interesting helicopters, but I can't motivate myself doing one. A tasty oob approach like yours raises the urge quite a bit and lately I bought the Special Hobby Cobra in 32 scale... Cheers Rob 5
GusMac Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Thanks fellas. I'm not sure I'd have thought of a helo if I hadn't got it as a present from my wife's sister and her partner. The Huey is good in that the simple rotor means it doesn't take up too much room in the cabinet. I think anything with 3 or 4 blades would have to be done with them folded or take up a huge amount of room. Hate to think how much space that Tarhe would eat up. 😄 5
BlrwestSiR Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 You did a great job on the Huey Gus. Definitely the rotors can be an issue once there's more than two of them. 5
belugawhaleman Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Working on this little Tamiya BT-7. Still have the tracks to do. I haven't worked with link & length tracks before, but this little beast could run without it's tracks. 6 1
smitty44 Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Well, not on the bench anymore, but from the archives. Saw one for $199 the other day. Looks right nice I might say. 10 1
BlrwestSiR Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Very nice Kingfisher Smitty. Mine is in a drawer on the bench. One more kit I need to get back to and finish. Carl 6

GusMac Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Thanks Peter. Almost feel ashamed posting it when we can all see the work Oliver is doing on his Wessex! 😄 2

belugawhaleman Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 I've been working on this; A Takom Skoda 30.5 M1916 Howitzer. An interesting kit, the most frustrating part is the little knobby things on the barrel assembly. They were very difficult to glue on, not to mention separating from the sprue. I used a grease pencil or China marker to pick them up and place them on the model. A couple of them broke off after assembly but, miraculously, I was able to find them and glue them back on! Anyway, here are some pictures of parts of the model in primer coat. 5

That Wessex is way beyond in comparison That the average modeler, or Super skilled modeler can achieve! ...I mean, that build is spooky in its excellence! How can you possibly be ashamed! Your work Is great!. I'd love to build a big Huey by the way. I know Hobby Boss has that big 1/18 Huey, but I'm still hoping for that big 1/18 Brewster Buffalo. One can hope....I mean won't they release that soon? 4
