And to make sure that Canadians are assured of a proper response from government during this serious crisis B.C. Ferries has decried a mask at all times will be needed.

They even came up with this new sign:

Its prolly best that Canada has outlawed critique of any kind ( hey , like model forums!) as we need this sort of top level design and decision making without the hindrance of logical input.

As  40+ year veteran on the B.C. custom sign industry I can assure you this is one of the worst things I've ever seen.

On a more serious note, Toronto will be back under a lockdown as of Monday 12:01am. No dining out in restaurants or even on a patio, no in-store shopping, no gyms, no malls. For 4 weeks starting Monday.  Schools are being left open at least.

Here's the kicker. The neighbouring suburbs to the west and north of us are permitted to stay open. There's nothing to stop someone driving there and doing their shopping/dining/socializing/virus spreading except for maybe their sense of responsibility. They did the same thing earlier in the year and that's exactly what folks did-went where they could what they wanted. So how is it different this time except that the businesses here are basically going to get wiped out while their counterparts stay open. All because of awhere they are on a map.

You crazy Canucks...

That's not a Penis, stop being phallacious.

On a slightly related note though...

Canada's CMO says you can't kiss your partner during Coitus.

Apparently, Covid-19 is in saliva, but not in semen.

Just personally, I find that a bit hard to swallow...

Phil, that's some good news.

Not quite COVID related but my dad was in a car crash last night. They took him to the nearest hospital and he got a full look over. I took my mom there but because of COVID rules, only one of us was allowed in. So I got to sit in the car for 4 hours while they did tests and observations.

They released him and he's home resting. Lots of aches and some bruises from all the airbags and seatbelt but thankfully nothing more serious. Once he's better, I think it's time we talk seriously about him no longer driving. He'll be 80 in Feb.

Phil, that's so true. My mom has brought it up in the past but he's been very resistant to the idea. In Ontario when you turn 80, you have to be retested.  So the original plan was to wait until then. But it looks like that's getting moved up a bit.

We still don't know if the other driver was hurt or not. When my mom told me about the crash and where it happened,I tried to find out what I could before picking her up. One of the local news channels had a video of the aftermath posted and from that I could see that he'd rear ended a pickup.

Here's my dad's car after we finally found it in a private  towing yard instead of at the collision reporting centre.

We're all glad he wasn't hurt worse after we saw the car.

HOLY COW, Carl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am sure glad he is ok...... wow, I watch the rescue show on tv and they are on those highways, and the traffic is unreal !  You may have a couple things going in your favor, first off, you dad can no longer drive that car..... you could drag your heals on helping him get another one..... secondly when I wanted my dad to stop driving, I had 'the talk' with him, I kind of made it 'his' idea, by saying I'm 'not worried ' about him ( I WAS REALLY worried), but what concerned me was his slow reaction time IF a little kid or a dog ran out in front of the car OR if some yahoo did something stupid, and he couldn't react fast enough..... we would be in a real pickle then... I left that with him for a week or so, and low and behold he called me and said he would give up his license, but they would be screwed to get groceries etc, I said I would handle that, and did, and the rest is history..... might be worth a thought in you case....  I'm glad your dad is ok, but how are you? It is VERY stressful going though this stuff..... I hope you, and the rest of the fam is ok.....

Thanks Jeff. I'm doing ok. My mom was a mix of angry, stressed and concerned last night. Called them this morning and dad is still sleeping. Probably a good thing to let him rest today.

Yea, this is almost certainly the tipping point. He said he was trying to change lanes and obviously got so focused on that bit that he lost track of what traffic in front of him was doing. Which is not a good thing.

As for the car, it's leased so I suggested to my mom after seeing it that maybe they should take the insurance settlement to pay out the lease and not replace the car. My sister and her husband live with them so they can do the errands. Plus we're a 10 minute walk to them.

In a professional bottoming out, I relented and made these for a customer:

Feels like I've wasted my time and money on expensive equipment and near-continual learning to end up making this sort of guff.

Shoot me now ,please.

Ok. How and where do you want to be shot ? Nice and clean or painful and slow B) ?

(I am myself not too sure about what’s the most appropriate retribution :rtfm: )

Well, having a business serving all types of industrial customers, It’s been affected seriously by the overall slump...

Some customers have been deeply hit, but others have benefited from the events. One of them is in manufacturing medical devices (like vials, syringes, etc ... ). They are among the winners of the year, would you believe it ? In September they decided to give the volumes of their factory in Hungary, on top of the French one. They are now my #1 customer, btw ...

And another one belongs to a Canadian group who have decided to transfer the production of their British factory to their French one, thus increasing the volumes for me. Thank you Mr Johnson !

So, all in all, my business will finish the year down 17.3 % (I had some - 50 % during the spring lockdown) but, unexpectedly, I have a 2.6 % growth for the last quarter, compared to the last pre-Covid 19 quarter of 2019 :) !

Shit...  Greater Brisbane area going into lockdown at 6pm Friday (9 hours away) until 6PM monday due to a hotel worker testing positive for mutant UK strain.   That means I could still go to work on monday...  if I didn't already have the day scheduled off.

Because I work in grocery, I'm always essential.

The premier just announced that in-class learning isn't starting on Monday as it had been scheduled prior to the Christmas break. They're postponing it a further 2 weeks minimum.

So the boys are going to have to learn online for a bit longer. At least the school board got it together this time and it's actually working.

Meantime, at the day care where my nephew goes one of the caregivers tested positive so all the kids there have to stay home for 2 weeks even if they test negative. My sister is so thrilled.

Just finished an eleven-hour shift here in Brisbane, wearing masks and gloves all day. Haven't worn a mask since the 1st of October, when the Health Department stopped the requirement at Hospitals. Masks must now be on whenever outside the home, not sure whether this also means in your own car on your own with the A/C on. Hard to get any sense from the Government, this is all a reaction to a single case, but only a lockdown for 3 days when a case in Sydney recently tested possitive after quarantining for the mandatory 14 days... 3 days doesn't seem anywhere near enough time to smother this outbreak of One. Before this, Queensland previously went 115 days without a case of Community transmission.

Well, hurry up and get back to work then... No Spuds at the local Coles ( or Broccoli, Carrots, Flour or Toilet Paper). Despite shopping for groceries being allowed, typically the hoarding has begun again right on queue.IMG20210108154459.thumb.jpg.c4e7b58f0c2d3627ef9b1c3bc1b0f111.jpg

Jeff, as far as I have seen and read until now, the « fake news « media, and the public persona pushing these « fake news » claims are precisely the bunch who have persistently tried to minimise or negate the existence and impact of the pandemic ...

Stopping there before treading any further on the thin ice of politics ...

Oh, I sure get that , Hubert, I guess what I was trying to say, is who do we really believe?? Sometimes the 'experts' get it so wrong, and I must say with all this stuff with the media these days, a guy has to be really careful .......... oh yeah, I do not doubt it is real thing and is very dangerous, I wish they could focus on it and come up with some definite perimeters, but again, I understand it is new and we are all trying to figure it out... and I, like everyone just wish it hadn't happened, it is now really starting to get old.... and one more thing about old......  it is beyond frustrating when the 'experts' say stay home, don't travel and the borders are closed, ............ BUT a LOT of the 'experts' and 'Leaders' certainly don't heed that advice, as they travel and holiday around the world................................  hhhmmmmm....................

Wife called me at work around 8:30 this morning and informed me that a prison inmate she had as a patient yesterday (she’s a CRNA) tested positive for the covid.  Of course everyone at work went into freak out mode and sent me home.  She’s around them all the time, but usually she knows up front.  She said she could have used extra precautions, but she didn’t do anything stupid.

I’m at home now until I give this some time to incubate and get another test on Monday.  Just had one this past Tuesday.  We have to do a monthly at work.

I took advantage of the situation and got my Christmas raffle’s shipped out.

The scenarios I related at the beginng of this scamdemic are starting to  be realized.

Politicians exempting themselves from the rules.

Entitled being exempted from the rules. ( From a headline regarding an RCMP's funeral)

With the confirmed scams that have been run on The Herd in the past and the obvious self entitlement of those in power , its only a matter of time until The Herd has had enough.

How many peeps have lost their homes?

How many peeps have lost their business?

Not any of the entitled , thats for sure.

How many multi-millionaires are now billionaires because of this?

Are the rich exempt from all aspects of this situation , except profit?

Cue the "Let them eat cake" statement which was obviously oblivious to reality now as it was then comment any time!

I fear 2021 will be the backlash year.

Glad y’all made it through ok.  That’s what is so dangerous about the COVID. My daughter was the same, yet seemingly healthy folks are dying as well.  Just went to my MD for my yearly and he was telling me he lost a close friend to COVID.
