I just finished Starter Villian by John Scalzi. It's a fun book in the spy/sci-fi/comedy genre.

Now that's a name I have not heard in a long time, I remember the Ghost Brigade and Sagan Diary.

Cheers

I used to live in a fairly nice part of Torrence, CA. Right off PCH at the base of the Palos Verdes hills. I wouldn't have needed this book. I used to see cars like this nearly every weekend. Of course in some cases they could have been replicas, as this Daytona coupe may be,  but the Alpine Renault, R5's, F1 cars on trailers, etc.  were all real. Practically a car show if you knew where to park and watch.

Soon after after I finish watching the first season of the Netflix adaptation, people started to lead me towards this book.  And I have to admit, it is so much better than the movie. Wholesome, exciting and genuinely daring. I am actually quite surprised that commies allowed it to be published.

Oh, I forgot to use my VPN. Gosh!😂 Sorry Martin, even if he appears in my Browsing history and I once was a fan of

his I now feel the Stephen king is a Hack....he became political and politically correct and as far as I'm concerned he

has become unreadable. The last book I read of his was Mr Mercedes... It was bad. It was hard to believe that it was written

by the author of the Dark Tower series or The Stand.

Much lighter fiction fare, but I just finished Starter Villain by John Scalzi. A fun book that upends the usual super spy tropes.

Interestingly I was never a big fan of King, and approached this book with a bit of hesitance. However , ended up pleasantly surprised.

And I see I've read it twice somehow. Guess I need to find a newer book to read.

Just finished this. I picked it up because I served at the same place the author did during the 2010 Haiti quake relief in the Dominican Republic border town of Jimani, and I worked with him a little bit during the events in the book. I was with a different organization than he was, but we hit town about the same time, and saw many of the same patients. Not the best written book ever, and maybe not super interesting to someone who wasn't there, but I liked it.
