Revell Bf-110. Anyone know this kit? Thoughts?
BlrwestSiR replied to Sir Desmond Glazebrook's topic in Modelling Discussion
Thanks Rog for the clarification. I didn't know they had an earlier release. -
Don't worry Harv, it's the Millennium Falcon. There's lots more weathering to do.

Dale, if it's a Bf-110C, it's the Dragon kit re-boxed. The Dragon kit is great and builds up very nicely. Hope that helps. Carl -
Thanks Smitty! The idea of doing a light overall coat is good to know. It looks like I'm not far off the real thing. Carl

So I'm not normally someone who pre-shades a model when I'm building it. In fact, if I do anything of the sort, it's post shading for me. That being said, I'm trying it out for the first time and wanted to see what you guys think. I've done the typical spray all the panel lines in black first step. But the next step is where I have questions. Do I spray a light overall cost or do I fill in the panels one by one? Here's the guinea pig, er test subject: The part on the right has been pre-shades and then painted with the primary colour. The one on the left has only the primary colour. The next two pics show the upper hull. I've done the painting by filling in the panels one at a time. Which I guess is more typical of post shading. Oddly, it's not as stark in real life. So what do you guys think? Carl

Condolences to Mig and the rest of his family. Carl

Thanks Wumm! It definitely looks nicer than the kit parts. The gun bay is already opened up on the kit. I closed mine and the panel fit wasn't bad. Hopefully the Aires parts don't require much to make fit nicely. Carl

Nice bunch of bikes there Rog. I've got a bunch of mountain bikes myself. The main one is an Ibis Mojo HD. Full carbon frame and XT gruppo with Industry Nine wheels. I have one of the last Mantis Flying V hardtails ever made with full XTR but a friend who owns a bike shop says it worth too much on the collector market for me to ride it. The closest I have to a road bike these days is a one off Kona prototype cross bike. They made the one and decided to not go ahead with production. Bought the frame from them for $50 and built it up with leftover mountain bike parts. A real mash up of a bike. And I agree, the bent over in the dropbars isn't for me anymore, especially with the way roads are these days. Carl

LOL, probably easier than flying a stolen MiG by thinking in Russian . How's the Aires set look? I just closed up the fuselage on my He162 but used the Eduard PE set. Carl

Great work there Tony. My sister dropped off a bunch of EAA Sport Aviation magazines over Christmas and the July 2019 issue has an article about firebombers and their history. It's a nice read. They mention the FPL Avengers in it. Carl

Dale, I've started up again on my Bandai Millennium Falcon and am using Vallejo washes on it. Here's what they look like on a couple pieces. I thin them down with water as I apply them so they're not so opaque. Hope that helps. Carl

Silver Wings Hawker Hart
BlrwestSiR replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
LOL, no. That would be too much work and way above my pay grade. It just looked easier to do a new frame for the cockpit than try to build from the resin ones. At least to me. If it doesn't work, I still have the resin one as a back up.- 39 replies

Looks very nice Rog. Can't let my wife see it. The road bike looks nice too. Is that a Dura Ace gruppo on it? Carl

I got it a couple weeks ago and have to agree with you John. The map they include showing where most of the tanks were in Berlin was a very nice touch. Carl

Agree with all of the above! It's fun here. Carl

I can't make Texas as it'll be my parents' 50th at the same time and we're expected to be there. However, I will be at Vegas in 2021 since it'll be my 50th birthday. So just a bit longer before I get to meet you all. Carl

Thanks John! Thanks to a unexpected health issue, I was told not to lift anything more than 10 lbs so models are all I can do

There's a lot of fantastic builds on here. Thanks for sharing everyone!

Something out of my comfort zone but it seemed like the right time to build it. As mentioned previously, this came about through an effort by Here Clunk to get me to try building a biplane. The kit is all resin with the struts reinforced with metal rods. The fuselage even has alignment pegs moulded onto it. Like seemingly all Hawker aircraft (I haven't checked the Hunter), there's a tubular frame to the cockpit. My copy had a couple breaks in it along with some resin flash. Rather than try to clean things up and fix the breaks, I decided to give making a replacement from styrene rod a try. Here's the first one almost done. Carl

What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)
BlrwestSiR replied to Martinnfb's topic in Modelling Discussion
Years ago, Ernie sent me a Silver Wings Hawker Hart as an enticement to join the Dark side of the Force and build models with more than one main wing. I decided it was finally time to give it a shot. The cockpit framing is a bit warped and has some breakages so I've started on making new ones from plastic rod. Let's see how that works out. Carl -
Took my two boys to it on Friday. I enjoyed it and so did they. There's a few "What was that ?" moments but overall I had fun. My sons enjoyed it enough they waited until it was over to run to the bathroom (they're 6 and 8). Carl
