As Gaz says it's hard to believe you could make that more detailed. Just stunning and beautifully weathered with it.

Looks like a game of KerPlunk we used to play with the kids!

Wow, stunning engine. Seems a pity to grubby it up.

Noticed Ralph posted on Martin's Beaufighter build thread. Haven't seen you on here for ages. Good to see you back and hope all is well Ralph. Cheers, Gus

Best wishes for the day. Hope it's a good 'un.

Looks beautiful. Get it in the display case pronto before those canopy bits get pinged off!

Nice finish, the exhaust looks great, nice and rusty.

Thanks guys. Nige, keep hold of the Zacto stuff, it's like rocking horse poop now and the nose and canopy corrections are going for crazy money. I just couldn't convince myself it was worth it for a build where everyone likely to see it in the display case (other than me) wouldn't know a Corsair from a Vauxhall Corsa!

Evenin' all, some more progress. Got the top coat on the underside. 3 coats of highly thinned Ammo FS36622 Gray. I'm pretty happy with how the mottling in the myriad colours shows through. My gut was saying 'go another thin coat' but I stuck with my head which said 'stop now, once everything else is painted the contrast will settle out'. Glad I did as I think another coat may have lost too much of the mottling. Next job is masking this off and moving on to the upper colours. Will revisit this as I want to try and simulate some worn fibreglass effects on the rear gondola between the rear gear bays like I've seen in photos. However, I just want to get the bulk colours on first. As ever, comments and critiques welcome. Gus

Think that chain may chafe a bit after a while!

My dad set himself this project when he retired and now about 10 years later he's back to the 1760s in all 4 main branches of the family and GOD is it mostly boring!! You could bicycle round most of the locations my ancestors have stayed in an afternoon, easy! Most of them are within a 20 mile radius of my home town and were farm workers or carpenters. I'm a positive freak having gone away to Uni, worked in England for a few years and then moved back about 60 miles from our home area. The interesting bit is seeing those who've served their country as we cover both World Wars, plus Korea, Crimea and the Napoleonic era. My grandfather's brother lied about his age to join up in 1917 and died in late September 1918 aged just 17. His name is on the memorial at Thiepval. My son is the same age now and it's frightening to think of him in that situation, mainly as he's a complete goofball.

Been some interesting stuff from Siberia recently about black snow falling due to the failure of the anti-pollution filters on the coal fired power stations and mining infrastructure. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/feb/15/toxic-black-snow-covers-siberian-coalmining-region

Have a look at the Livescience and Sciencenews websites. You may well have Native Indian ancestry - the reproducibility of these home DNA tests is appalling and it's borderline whether they should be done for false advertising.

Nice solution Martin. Looks great once rivetted etc.

Once you've seen it to scale with the fuse it's just even more astonishing! I'm not sure I could see parts that small never mind manufacture them. -
Ha ha Free. I was going to post that too, but you beat me to it. Love a bit of Zappa. Snow doesn't always look white but put your 'white' dogs in the snow and you realise the snow is considerably whiter than the dogs!

Looks great Jeroen, very lifelike.

Hey Wumm, thanks for the concern. I have a respirator and paint booth, so I'm mitigating as much as I can. It's the residual odour my wife objects to. I also run to work everyday through town so I get regular pulmonary function checks which are always well above my age predicted normal, so all seems to be well.

Thanks for the reply Peter. I pondered them for my Greek A-7 as they do make dedicated Hellenic sets but I bottled it and stuck with the Ammo acrylics I've used for the last few builds. Might give them a try for the next project.

How do the lacquer smell Peter? That's always my (or my wife's) issue with lacquers and Mr Color got vetoed a while back. I'm hoping once our younger one goes to Uni in September I can 'convert' his bedroom and get some peace
