GazzaS Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Those panels look fantastic, Kai. That's really a great way to do a modern cockpit. Trying to paint all of that detail... would be far beyond me. 2
Peterpools Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Kai Nice start on the front office and the Red Fox 3D decals looks fantastic. Glad you found some time to hit the bench this weekend. Keep 'em comin Peter 2

Thanks for that Kai, these hangovers are killing me . The innards of your Tornado do look great. I never liked the actual plane to much with it's boxy appearance, but will follow your build with interest, as I like to look on subjects, I wouldn't build myself and peak a little deeper. Sometimes my bias has changed, doing so. Cheers Rob 5
mark31 Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 loving it already Whats your opinion off this kit so far from what you can tell from whats in the box? Mark 1 1
Drifter Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Impressive. Those Redfox panels are the real deal. 3
alberto49 Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Again an impressive project, I will follow with great interest, even if a 1:32 Tornado isn't in my plans, mostly because I will have no place big enough to store such a big kit. 4

Mark Sorry for the late reply Mark. I don’t have much time for the bench at the moment. The kit is much better than the Mirage III or Starfighter kit from Italeri. Design, parts breakdown, detailing and casting quality is much better. So far I really enjoy the build and can recommend it. 5
Peterpools Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 Kai No rush,, when time allows Keep ‘em commin Peter 1 1

Kaireckstadt Posted December 11, 2021 Author Posted December 11, 2021 Found some time today to continue with the cockpit. I had to lighten up the AK Barley-Grey very much to match with the Grey used by RedFox for their parts. Left the original color and right the lightened up version. Front office. Detail painting and weathering still to be done. Back office… General overview Pilots Office… and WSO-Office… Left: HUD-Operation Panel. Right: WSO Main Operating Panel Next task is to paint and complete the other cockpit parts and include the first lights from the Magic Scale Modeling set to illuminate the HUD. 6 1
GazzaS Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Kai, Looks exceptional! Glad to see you got some bench time. 2
Kaireckstadt Posted December 12, 2021 Author Posted December 12, 2021 Thank you both for your feedback! Was really good to have some benchtime today! 3
Peterpools Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Kai Nice to see you found some bench time and making nice progress on the Tornado's front office. I've often wondered why AM manufacturers do not spec out a color paint match or mix especially for the cockpit and interior areas, so everything will match, as I've often questioned their color choices. Looking forward to the first of the electronics being added. Keep 'em comin Peter 2
Kaireckstadt Posted December 12, 2021 Author Posted December 12, 2021 Thank you Peter. This topic also applies to Eduard. Color matching is a real problem. The only electronics to be build into the cockpit will be the illumination of the HUD. It will be added later on. 4
Bomber_County Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Sorry Kai, just catching up, phenomenal work on the pit, I think we are all time / bench poor at the moment …….looking forward to seeing more….. 2
Kaireckstadt Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 Thank you Phil. You are completely right with your statement regarding bench time. I have 2 weeks off during the Christmas time. Hope to make some more progress then. 3

Kai Eduard leads the class on suspect colors (I buy a lot of Eduard sets) and a number of their interior sets have a blue color rather then gray or black. Sometimes working from photos that have a lot of shadows, blue becomes the dominate color, which is a white balance issue. Keep ‘em comin Peter 4 hours ago, Kaireckstadt said: Thank you Phil. Kaireckstadt Posted December 19, 2021 Author Posted December 19, 2021 Today I had some time for the bench. I had to rework the backplate of the cockpit since the Italeri one does not depict the one used in the GR4-Tornado. This is the one which is wrong and depicted in the kit: And here is the correct one: I grinded away all the details not needed and added the new ones with evergreen sheet and stretched sprue: The tarpaulin on the backplate I replicated with thinned Mr. Dissolved Putty from Gunze. I also prepared the other parts of the cockpit: Next step will be to complete the cockpit and add the pilot and WSO. 7 1

I don't even know what I'm looking at half of the time. 2
Peterpools Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 Kai Nice work on correcting the back panel details. Lots of small detail work adds up in a big way. Keep 'em comin Peter 1
