Soo.... What did you just get???

Just arrived:

Vallejo Metal Colors and their metal varnish. Will be using them for all the NMF areas on the Tomcat instead of Alclad and see how they work.

Just want to start distancing myself from all the lacquers, as I use up my supplies.

I like using them. The can either be brushed or airbrushed. Not quite as hard wearing as Alclad but certainly a lot less smelly

Carl is quite an expert when it comes to the modern US jets and as soon as he noticed my interest in Falcons and Eagles, he started feeding the fire. :)
thank you !!!!!

Alan

I was hoping they would actually be a little tougher and the oder/health issues is number one.

This arrived yesterday.....

Another Amusing Hobby offering.

This time their; Fv4005 Stage 2 Self-Propelled Gun (35A029) in 1/35.

Looks like a great kit of a unique vehicle. Only one of these exists and

is currently under restoration. It had an 183mm gun. Anyway, I'm starting

to like Amusing Hobby's off the beaten track subjects. This kit

Includes individual link tracks and working suspension. It looks

well-molded with some large sturdy components.

Rest of the World - sloping armour is the way to go to maximise protection

The Brits - nah, just make it bloody huge and it'll be fine!

Looks like someone has left the cork in the end of the barrel as well.

I was thinking of adding the cork during the build...It's clear the box art was

inspired by the photograph.

I think I’m going to nominate you “pot stirrer of the year”

:stirthepot:

Or maybe “drug dealer of the year” making sure everyone gets another fix when they least expect it.  Reminds me of the Huey Lewis song “I need a new drug”.

Is this the same tank which MR Hewes is restoring?

There is only one FV4005 so yes. Have a look for mr hewes on you tube. If I remember correctly the hull is now in primer and they are awaiting delivery of the turret and other parts. I'm not really a tank fan but these guys are always worth watching, no matter what they are up to. The farm is somewhere near Market Harborough BTW.

Another Amusing Hobby kit today. "Amusing Hobby" being perhaps among

the silliest names out there, they do have some interesting kits of

some cool subjects, at least in my view. This time I got their

British Heavy Tank FV 214 Conqueror Mk. II (35A027) in 1/35.

I didn't know much about this tank. It looks cool, it was huge, heavy, and

had a big gun. It was pretty much just based in Germany, used briefly, then

became a cold-war relic, I guess. Anyway, these kits look nice. I might start

one of these while still working on my Churchill. This kit has individual link

"Snap together" tracks, working suspension with metal springs, slide molded parts, photo-etch. and look well-molded.

Adding to my Luftwaffe medium bomber stash collection, I picked up the Revell Heinkel He 111P-1 at my LHS.  I got lucky as they had picked this up at an estate sale. With this one I now have the Revell Ju88A-1, dragon bf110 E-2 trop and the Revell (Dragon re-boxing) bf110 C-2/C-7). About 5 years worth of building at my pace, so I'd better get cracking on one of them. :)

Wish lists are amazing inventions for letting family know what you need……. This is the result, the Micro Cup for CR Plus is great for a thimble full of paint required. AK are now producing refill tins of cement, 200ml ata hell of a sight cheaper than a bottle. Last but not least the Arma Hobby Hurricane, the mouldings are stunning, hopefully they will follow as they did from 72nd to 48th to 32nd…….this is my very first Hurricane……….also the stash is now closed, reached the magic 20 mark………also more Dspiae tools, they have spent a lot of design time to craft their range….

I think you'll find it's a nice kit. The Badger I'm working on uses the Conqueror as its base so there's lots of common parts. I used Fruil tracks on mine as the only bit of AM.

Thanks, I saw fruils for the Conqueror somewhere, I'll have a look.

These kits look like they'll be fun builds. I also have the French ARL-44 and I'm expecting another obscure tank in the mail.

Would you like a few tips on navigating the instructions?  I’m in the painting phase of mine now.

I would indeed. Thank you.

This is my first foray into an older Revell kit and was surprised to see how far their instructions have come in thier newer kits.
