I just received a badly crushed Iron Maiden Spitfire from England ....

When I order ANYTHING Revell from the UK (or anywhere internationally), I always place a note to advise them to pack it securely - for this very reason.

I've made about 3 or 4 damaged goods claims against UK based retailers for failing to observe this request ... It's not like its not common knowledge that wet paper isn't better product packaging than these ridiculous boxes from Revell - they should be awake to it and take better care - I don't pay good money for rubbish shipment packaging. I don't send stuff internationally every day - and even I know how to securely pack items for international shipment.

If zero care is taken by the packing team - they deserve the consequences of a complaint!! ... Get 'em to send another one!!

The mail cost may be a little more to do it right ... but not another whole model kit ... if they don't pay the price, they'll never learn!

I got a Me-262 Nightfighter with that wobbly Revell packaging from Amazon last year, without further protection. I was lucky, everything arrived undamaged and I think, they even wrote it in their offer, but I saw it after ordering.
Revell should change that, I would give an extra buck for a better box, even a second, when I think about the bothersome handling while building.

I struck out on the Camel. Struck out again on the Sopwith Triplane. This just arrived in the mail today; I'll take what I can get.

Congrats, I went for the early model after a long thinking process. I don't like them stippled and was fighting on the black and white scheme of yours or the blue and yellow scheme (with the same black and white striped underlying). The latter won, because I want to challenge myself with a semi translucent paintjob.

Have fun with yours. The Halberstadt's among some Gothas and the occasional D.VII seem to be the only WNW kits widely available. I missed on a AEG and can't source them anymore. My decision here was late, before I had the idea to build the AEG wingless, either wrecked or just abandoned, I had no interest into a bird with that wingspan, shit happens

Cheers Rob

I keep hoping they'll come out with the B-47, and if they do, I'll be extremely happy indeed. Once I'm done the 36, I tyhink I'd regret not getting the other, so here we go. I have the space at the office, and they'll look good there.

HPH got their claws in me with the Concorde. I haven't started it (or the XB-70) yet as they are a bit tricky. The B-36 is (so far) a doable project for me. After getting bored punching holes in the wing I moved on to fitting glass in the nose. Went splendidly. I am worried about cutting and refitting the well and panel for the main gear. Have you gotten to that yet, and if so, is it a non issue? (The only flaws I've seen so far is a major mismatch between the main body and front of the jet pods. Unless there's a piece that goes between them that I'm not seeing. Then the spinners are a bit goofy. Almost like they're too big. Seeing as much of them as you do, you wouldn't see any of the airplug and there would be a gap between the cowling and the spinner. Also, no trunking from the inlets to the intercoolers, oil coolers and engine cooling air?) I like the painting you've done so far on the interior. I'm saving it until I'm done making holes for the resin bits in the wings. I'm glad you got the B-52. If you haven't opened it up, you are in for a treat. All the fiberglass parts are prepped for you! It is ready to go right out of the box! Hopefully you got the flap kit for it. It's beautiful and will add some color. (I have a review of it on iModeler.com although I would have preferred a Vietnam big tail D.)  I too would like a B-47 (I have Sangers, but I have shelved it until I learn a few more tricks and skills!) but I am actually rooting for a 1/48 Tu-95. I've always been a fan of the Bear!

So far you are the only other person working on the Peacemaker that I've found. A shame actually because it is a nice kit and fairly easy to build. HPH put a lot of work into it just to have it sit. (I just want to see someone do a C-99 conversion!) I am altering a couple details on my kit to make a D and am also having some decals scaled up. HPH did choose some ho-hum markings for an awesome kit!

 Cheers from Oshkosh!

Thanks so much for your constructive comments. And welcome here, you will love it, I promise. Now, as for your B-52 ( very jealous). My most favorite aircraft of all time. Loaded them for 4 years on G's and D's. Don't know if you know, the bomb bay is very different on the D. They were modified C models for iron bombs specifically . Also nose is quite different. I really hope you do a WIP on the BUFF. I would be tickled pink........harv

Yeah, I know the A-D BUFFs had a bit snubbier nose, (which I actually prefer the look of) different engine pods and tail. Probably other stuff that you'd have to look closer to see as well. (I have Sanger's D as well, but I'm not to the vac-form level yet. Someone is doing an H version by them on iModeler and I am very grateful for his WIP. Seems like you almost have to build vac kits like an old stick and tissue model with ribs and formers under the skin!) I am totally stoked to start my BUFF, but I've made a rule with the HPH kits that I can't start one until one is finished. Getting decals that I liked for the Peacemaker got me fired up on it again. Once all the resin bits are mounted in the wings I think it will go the rest of the way fairly quickly! (The part I was most nervous about was the glass, followed by wondering if the tail will be level if I follow their scribing.  One thing I did find out is that the seam on my fuselage does not run down the center. That was messing with my brain when fitting the glass as a kept expecting the seam to line up with the center frames!

Don't be jealous of the B-52, go get one! (But definitely buy direct. Much cheaper than going through a middle man and they ship quick once the kit is done. Usually out on Friday and here in Oshkosh before I get home from work on Monday.) If space is an issue you can leave the wings so they come off for storage! I was wondering how it would be getting the B-36 to shows, but it fits in the back of my Hornet, so my minivan should also do the job!

And i just ordered something completely different. Something i planning to get for a long time but never made the step to do...........Something i really like allot since i was a little boy and saw the Movie Convoy with Kris kristofferson................

To be honest, i really like those big ##s American trucks and this will a nice change in modelling since i am a little bit bored with airplanes.

My greatest hope for WNW was that they would eventually release all of the Albatros fighters so that I would one day build and collect them all.  But alas, it wasn't to be.  So, what I have begun to do is look for Roden kits at decent prices.  I got this one for about 2/3 the going rate.

Had a bunch of points at Indigo (a book chain in Canada) so I picked this up for free:

So far just flipped through it but there's a lot of information and pics.

It'll certainly come in handy as I want to build a pair of FAA Corsairs.

They can be thinned right down without losing coverage as the pigment seems very fine. Most colours dry with a slight satin finish so I have on occasion put decals straight on top but I'd recommend a gloss coat. Tamiya X-22 works just fine bit you need to watch and not handle stuff too much until it's completely dry.

As an aside Ammo now do a Clear primer in their One Shot range which actually works really nicely as a clear coat. It's not absolutely matt but looks pretty good on most aircraft for a worn look.

Hi everyone ...

Been a while, I know ... I HAVE been busy ... just not with modelling related stuff ...

First ... this whole virus hullabaloo has left a lot of people without work ... It really breaks my heart to see the economic damage done ... on the other hand it appears most of our customers sought the time at home to employ our company's services! ... Which means the exact opposite is true for me ... Sooooo glad I have time to relax today.

I love listening to music - often LOUD ... and although they come in for a lot of criticism I like Beats Headphones for the loudness and drive they give to my music. One the main criticisms that Beats come in for - is that they are very overpriced. I agree ... which is why I tend to wait until the particular model that I'm after has been out for a while ... and I can grab a bargain here or there. I've wanted an upgrade from my bright red Beats Studio 2.0's for a while - ever since the Studio 3.0's came out ... I've had them since sometime in 2013 and have replaced the battery and ear pads since then - other than that, they've been awesome. Studio 3.0's retailed at anywhere from Apple's $449 down to about $399 when they first came out ... so when these (Matte Black only) were advertised at $269, I pulled the trigger ... got a pair for my GF while I was at it. The improvement in audio quality over the Studio 2.0's is quite good :)

Next ... I saw an ad placed by ericg over on LSP for RAAF resin upgrades - i grabbed a couple of Mirage III cockpit sets and one underwing pylon set for my BAE Hawk.

I also saw the whole WNW drama unfolding over the last week or two. I've never owned a WNW kit ... the thought of WWI biplanes/triplanes etc and all that rigging ... not my cuppa! ... but I was keen to see how their Lancaster turned out - RRP wise. With that option gone and local online supplies of the HKM Lancaster dwindling fast here in Aus, I pulled the trigger now to save waiting around for future restock.

And lastly ... the MAIN reason why I've been so absent over the last couple of months ... I'm getting ready to by a house and land package :D :D :D ... There's been a LOT of research ... and a steep learning curve ... but - this is the perfect time for someone like me to pull the trigger - in this market.

Finally settled on the new estate ... now just got to get the design package priced up and commence negotiations!

Looks a nice area Rog,

Close to beach, Freeway, School and shops. If it's a choice of 32/33/34, I would take 32, be as far away from those tiny Townhouses on Owlpen Lane. 180 squares means only one car space, guarantee that you will have Bogans parking on No.34's side lawn, which will be a much smaller block anyways because it includes all that side street frontage in the 369.

It's a great time to be buying property if you have the income and a good deposit.

Good luck Mate!

Heya Steve

Thanks! ... My developers have been leaning toward 33 ... but I definitely didn't want 34 ... On that advice - I might see if I can push 32.

No deposit needed as I'm using Keystart for finance ... a WA Government financing wing ... there's a bit of complex financial wizardry required because I have to refinance my car loan an pay out a couple of other smaller debts - but this is being done and fees etc looked after with the aid of the First Home Owners Grant and land rebates ...

I've been working the deal for about 3 months now ... getting close!

Good luck Rog! Hope you can get it worked out.

Great call on the HK Lanc too. If you know which plane you're building, you may want to look at the Iconicair nose blister. It's the larger nose blister but without the holes that the kit one has.
