Looking forward to this build Rob. I have thought about getting on myself.....

Might be the next one in line Harv, maybe I start parallel to the Kamel build. I browsed through the manual and the Tankette looks like an easy build, where I can concentrate on painting and weathering.

Cheers Rob

Today arrived this little big tank, a 1/16 scale Japanese tankette in Chinese service. There are some Japanese versions around too, but decided for the Chinese variant, because of the nice included resin figure (as far as I know, the others have normal injection plastic figures), the unusual subject and the monochrome scheme, where I want to train some effects on. The downside (if it is one), with this kit you get only rubber band tracks, where the other variants have single track links included too, which look very fiddly.

The Molotow markers are different sized chrome pump pens and the blue ones contain masking fluid. I had the idea to use these masking pens for one of these difficult to airbrush French camos where I will try to use them for masking the before sprayed black borders, instead of brush painting these.

Cheers Rob

Neat looking little tank there, Rob. Let me (us) know how those masking markers work - I myself have never had any luck with any type of masking fluid.

... and now to something completely different. Couldn't let these two pass for poco dineros. I will be way out of my comfort zone, as I only built a highly detailed Citroen 2CV in very bad condition some years ago. The only other car kit in my stash is my favorite, the goddess, a Citroen DS-21.
I may do something different with one or two of these kits, to get more comfortable with. I thought about giving the Ford GT a bronze paintjob with patina on it :icon_eek:. Let's see...

Cheers Rob

How about treating it like a WNW kit but instead of lozenge decals, use carbon fibre decals?

Scale Motorsport makes a set.

I saw a real Ford GT sitting on a showroom floor just as they came out. The Dealership had ordered a couple, (apparently he had pull with Ford brass), and it was priced at some astronomical amount way, way up there in the stratosphere.

I was too plebian to even be allowed to sit in it, so I settled for making vroom vroom noises with my lips. Hopefully I splattered everything within spray distance with spittle droplets.

Yes, I can behave a mite bit juvenile at times.

Nevertheless, I was asked to leave, but I got a quick look at the drivers seat when a salesman opened the door for some bigshot heart surgeon, and I got a quick enough glimpse of the drivers seat to raise serious doubts whether my arse would even have fit.

Oops I did it again, bargain on eBay they were less than MRP..........I think that’s all the AM I need for the Tamiya Mossie ...

I gotta say ... I'm surprised that ANY sort of AM is required for a Tamiya prop kit    ...

I mean ... I'd always go with a set of Master turned metal barrels anyway ... but resin detailing?? ...

Tamiyas IM product is usually so well detailed anyway.

Who knew??

Rog :)

In this case, Tamiya did a nice enough job moulding the ammo chutes but they didnt put any ammo in them. They're emoty so it could look odd to some.

Oh I know that feeling. I picked up the Eduard resin Merlin set and then their nose gun bay and cannon bay set too. I normally don't build my planes with panels open so it'll be different whenever I get to it.

Which will be after my Tse Tse conversion.

Got a few items in the mail today.

First up is a tool I've been looking at for a couple years now. Finally took the plunge.

There's a couple goofs in my current Scammell build so I'm planning to take a second crack at it down the road. They seem to be hard to find and some folks have wondered if they have closed up. My LHS had one so I grabbed it.

I'm interested in this one too. When I had probs with a bended needle, I straightened it and honed it with a Japanese grind stone for knifes with a final go with the 6000 grit side and some oil on it.

So far Ive used it to straighten my Procon boy  needle. The needle had a slight bend near the tip. You merely slip the needle into the slot and with gentle pressure to hold it in place, rotate the needle a few times.

It's definitely taken the bend out. I haven't tried painting with the fixed needle yet. Probably tonight so I'll post how that goes.
