Well, here is, the PCM Macchi 202. It's in flight because I cracked it with the wheel wells and threw them in the bin. I was unable to make them fit and have the wings fit anywhere close to each other, not to mention the undersize resin lower cowling. Without the wheel wells in I was able to mash everything together and what failed to fit was then rage sanded to oblivion. The whole wing to fuselage section was done like this then rescribed. I had to murder the top of the fuselage to make the windscreen fit and I think I blocked out the trauma of fitting the cockpit which happened like 5 or 6 years ago.

What's with the colour scheme you ask. Well I found some nice profiles of the Croatian aircraft used on the Russian front and I liked the camouflage. I have no idea if this is historically correct or not, the pictures taken of these aircraft are pretty bad and don't show much of the markings, so I'll do it in German insignia with a Croat tail marking over where the Swastika should be with a black number on the fuselage, outlined in white. I also felt bad about finishing this kit off in a half arsed manner so I kind owed it some time on the paint work, but then my airbrush air hose is dying so I have an airbrush that is macguyered together at the moment. Oh also the spinner is undersized but at this stage I don't care.

I'm feeling with you, cleaning lots of sticky liquid mask can be a real pain, I learned it the hard way with my Mig-31, recently:D.
For my Merkava, I have a tube of anti slip paste, but I never tried the stuff and to be honest, I will do a lot of testing, before I use the stuff on my tank.

Cheers Rob

I've got (among other things) Roden's Dr.1 on the bench.

DSCN2438-1.jpg

I ran into an issue with the tailplane. The gussets for the upper elevator control cables are space widely apart from top to bottom.

You can see a small white dot below the gusset; it's from where I drill a tiny hole from the other side.

DSCN2428-1.jpg

I did some checking, and it appears that the locations are correct. Now, how to drill through and hit the right spot on the other side?

I made up two pieces...

DSCN2429-1.jpg

I tried to drill in my drill press, but the steepangle and the small diameter of the drill made it impossible. The drill just deflected when it hit the plastic.

I resorted to drilling by hand. I started perpendicular to the surface, then changed the angle as I progressed, until the drill was horizontal (or nearly so.

DSCN2435-1.jpg

I still need to open the hole a wee bit, but it goes through, and hit the right spot on the other side!

Nice work with the drilling, I would have done it the same way, adding dynotape to hinder the drill slipping out of the hole with the flat angle.

Especially since I'm getting to ride with my two sons.

That is great, biking with the boys must be a great deal of fun. I'm eager to get on my bike again, but in the moment all our roads and pathes in the mountains are completely closed, because of dryness and heavy winds and the risk of bushfires, pity.

Cheers Rob

When do you SLEEP, Carl? Between biking with the Fleas, model building on your own and with the Fleas, and brisket smoking, and ME texting you until all hours of the night, there doesn't seem to be many hours of the day left...............  the boys will have fun with Dad on the bikes now!! Too bad school starts soon.. LOL!!!!

I usually get about 6 hours sleep a night. My Fitbit tells me that's only fair but I seem to do ok.

The school board had pushed back the start date by a week so we still have two weeks until they go back. Then I can hit the trails on my own. :D

While we were driving back from the trails, the two of them were talking about tank combat.

- "Tiger 1 can take on anything"

- " Yeah, but a Firefly can stop a Tiger"

- "Sturmtiger is cool"

They need to watch less Girls und Panzer. Either that or there needs to be a new season.

Today was spent mostly with oils.  Pin washing and dry brushing.

I tried something new here.  Instead of a universal pin wash in one color, I used a different color pin wash for each paint color.  My wish is that sometimes you see a panel line, and sometimes you don't.  Or, sometimes the panel line teases your eye...  is it there, or isn't it?   I hope it turns out visually interesting.

Nice Gaz, but do you have pics of the 'Jager' writing, because in German it should be 'Jäger' with dots on the ä and means hunter.
Jäger are a part of the Bundeswehr infantry, like Gebirgsjäger - mountain troops or other.
There are some old writings, were the word Jager is used, like the Austrian Jagertee, a rum based hot drink, but it's fairly uncommon.

I tried the same with my TA-152 and liked the result. My purpose was similar to yours and additional, I used it to simulate the surrounding conditions, with the partly use of near white wash, to indicate winter usage on a frozen airfield north of Berlin.

This tank is an amalgam of two tanks.  Red 414 with oversized crosses, and Jager...  I didn't try my hardest to get the font correct...   but no Umlauts.
