Bomber_County
I’ll add this to the mix fo group builds. This will be my very first group build so uncharted territory. Anyway, found the venerable Tamiya 1/35 Tiger 1 item 35-146. dated 1989. This is described as the late version by Tamiya. The good news is no rubber band track, oh yes individual track links, which in imho a lot better. Not as good as a set of Fruil but that’s the cost of the kit again. The big surprise was the amount of AM I had collected over two or three years..... RB shackles RB 35B39 MG34 RB 35B71 88mm KwK 36 L/56 RB 134 01 Chain Tamiya 36/166 88mm brass projectiles ( Eduard 35441 - Tiger 1 Late etch for Tamiya Eduard 35442 Zimmerit Tiger 1 for Tamiya Didn't realise I’d collected so much. Going to base it on this...... The only item I have to research is tactical number for a specific vehicle and having the correct decal style available. This is going to be tough...... Here’s some pics of where I am starting......

Jeff
I'm thinking I have an original issue of this kit in my stash, from the early 1980's...... and it has the rubber tracks.... I might have to step up and get some good metal ones to do this kit.... you have stirred me up here Phil....

Jackster
Nice choice Phil, I do like a Tiger! Would have hated to confront one though. The mere threat must have been very off-putting, to say the least. That is a nice selection of AM products too. Cheers Kev
Bomber_County
Thanks Kev, it’s rainy day here, so off to the bench we go......
Bomber_County
Ok, late last night I cracked the box open at the bench, first off I didn’t imagine there was so much PE.........but not daunted, onwards and upwards. Only got chance to look and do a couple of axles......
Martinnfb
Great choice Phil. I built this kit years ago OOB, with RC setup for a friend. Very rewarding build. Gotta find the pictures. Cheers Martin

Bomber_County
More PE and the cutting of various items off the stock kit, my eyes are going to be shot after this one. Twelve months ago I’d wouldn’t have dreamed of taking this on........
DocRob
Nice PE-work Phil. those fenders look great and so many opportunities to let them look a little bit deformed realistically in PE. Cheers Rob
BlrwestSiR
Great start. The fenders look great. How is the PE zimmerit to work with? I've never tried it and only used the Atak sets a couple times with mixed results. Carl

I think this project is going to be PE heavy compared with the spruce count. Also I have read three sets of instructions, Tamiya, Zimmerit and the Eduard fenders etc. Enjoying it......

The registration to the kit is perfect so far. I bought some Gorilla gel cyno which is great for spot fixing. Very impressed so far with Eduard. The gel also comes in small tubes with screw cap, ideal size because how many bottles of cyno have we all ditched because they go off. 4
nmayhew
hello not a fan of the Ed zimm but at least no compound curves for it to negotiate eg Panther kugelblende etc anyway, you will be quite limited as to the tank you make because the turret zimm is i believe (please confirm) of the same 'narrow' gauge found on the hull turret zimmerit was usually a wider gauge the well known and well photographed 211 of Hans Weiss is in sSSPz 102, but has the larger turret zimm for instance 312 of sSSPz 505 has the narrow zim if you like the charging knights... 5

I won’t be going the extra mile to replicate the pattern differentiations . This is the first time I have used the Eduard Zim and would again in an instant......
