Thanks. I'm still grinding my way through the Stuart right now, but the Hellcat will be near the top of my list as it looks like a great kit.....some of the details of the kit look really impressive. The grilles on the engine deck, inside the turret, and fabric cover for the gun mantlet especially stand out.
BlrwestSiR
I got a couple things in the mail today. First up is a KASL intake for the F-16. Much better detail and quality than the GT Resin one. Some circle masks in various diameters. A couple mask templates for larger circles and squares. Plus a barrel for the Su-122-54. Lastly a couple gas caps for the KH F-5 series. More tank barrels. One for the M18 Hellcat and another for the Titan 4. A small scale kit. I hope my eyes are up to it. Lastly, an even tinier scale model. One word, Vampire!!! Okay, Nosferatu but same thing. 9

Hoping you dive into the B-25 soon - now that's temping and would fit nicely into the display case. 1

belugawhaleman
Well, I've been thinking about buying this one for some time, and yesterday I decided to go ahead. Today from Tower Hobbies came Tamiya's 8.8cm Pak43/1 auf Geshtzwagen III/IV (Sd.Kfz.164) Nashorn (35335). This was released in 2014 and shares the lower hull and running gear of their later Hummel kit but nothing else. This kit, unfortunately, does not have the nice link & length tracks of the other kit.....it has the "rubberband" style tracks. Still, it's a very nice kit according to the reviews and a quick look in the box confirmed this. It has the barrel molded in one piece, so an Aber barrel is not needed I think. The muzzle brake is separate and is made up as three pieces. Nashorn ,by the way, is German for rhinoceros. Anyway, I have loads of kits right now to choose from and yes, I do agree I'd better get on with building some!

DocRob
I did myself a favor (and maybe you too ) and bought some instant display bases from Zoukei Moura. They are about 30cm in diameter and made of a kind of resin. They are pre painted as in ready to use. Some wooden floored airbase: Marsden boards: And some mixed stuff, suitable for planes or vehicles: For my next 'in between' project, I need some good masking liquid and will try this one. The brushes are a welcome addition in larger sizes. As horrible as the AK sable brushes are, I have to say I like their synthetic brushes. The last on, I bought only to have another person than Paul (me ) in that thread with a Tamiya kit. Seriously, this will be used with a ME-262, my Arado or Horten kit. It's the new incarnation of the Kettenkrad and looks good OOB. Cheers Rob 8
Peterpools
Rob Thanks for the mini review on the ZM display bases, they do look good. I have been buying a lot of AK synthetic brushes and they do work well but when I need a precision brush, I'm a W&N Series 7 guy. Yup, the Kettenkraftrad does look pretty neat and will work well with your planned dios.

It's hard for me to say, the Master barrels I have purchased have been for the most part been less costly than my Aber barrels but then the Master barrels have been less complex than the Aber. I guess my closest comparison would be my recently purchased Master M118 Hellcat barrel to the Aber KV-1 barrel, both simple one-piece items, their price was about the same.

My models end up unceremoniously placed on a coffee table Looking sadly out of place.....I'll have to look into those bases. I really do like the Tamiya kits.....trouble free, great quality, and NOT Chinese..... Silly, I know but that kind of matters to me. My next purchase will be a non-Tamiya kit perhaps. I saw that the Brothers Sprue have a long sought for kit in stock. I will buy this thing....if still in stock..next week.
belugawhaleman
A surprise came in the mail today......... Ordered on August 10th......from BNA Model World in Melbourne, Australia, and delivered today , the 18th, my order came. That's pretty darn quick! Quicker than Anything that I ordered from Kitlinx......and that's in Utah! Anyway, the item is from Quick Wheel. It's their QW-249 wheel stencil for the Tamiya Hummel (35367). This should work with the Nashon kit as well as both kits share the same wheels. I've never used one of these Quick Wheel things before. I've been using a 20/0 AIT sable "mini liner" brush, and it works very well for the purpose. I noticed that on the Hummel and Nashorn kits from Tamiya the line between the rim and tire is not as well-defined as on other kits...so I thought I'd give this Quick Wheel stencil a try. We'll see how this works out. Once again, kudos for BNA model world.......A great business to deal with. Not only for their shipping, but for their service. Emails and questions were answered quickly... Very pleased.

I haven't tried the Quick Wheel template before but I do use a regular circle template for painting wheels and it makes things much easier and faster. I've ordered from BNA a few times and even to Canada, they have great service. Carl

The smaller circle is sticky from the inside, where the foam part centers the wheel, a pffft with the airbrush later and all is done without running color. I triy to keep them as clean as possible while using, there are many Panzer III / IV derivates out there . Cheers Rob
HubertB
I can also vouch for BNA as a topcalss worldwide supplier. Fast, reliable, and generally cheap. I remember getting some Eduard stuff from them cheaper, shipping included, as from Eduard directly. Abysmal carbon balance, but the logic of having a Czech item shipped down under, than back to Europe, for less than directly from one European country to another still baffles me. I also have a Dspiae circle cutter, but I thought I'd give the Quick Wheel stencil a try. I have ordered from BNA before, but that was when the pandemic was at its height and shipping was at its worst. This time things were faster.

Hubert I got the product quicker from BNA in Australia than I get items from Kitlinx in Utah partly because Kitlinx sits on the order for several days before shipping out. BNA shipped the next day...really in less than 6 hours in this case.
GazzaS
Big day at the show. Spent a lot of money on little things. And won a kit at the raffle! Won this: Heads... Figures that aren't in crazy assault poses. So my Panzers won't be lonely. And Panzer bling. I think I saved a little money... 5 1

I was busy shopping, for sure. I actually intended to buy nothing. But then I saw cheap figures... and then the heads... and then the PE. It's impossible to buy nothing, unless you don't even look at the vendors tables. I'll learn the results when I go in later. Watching some pre-season football right now.

I was too busy shopping to take photos. I'm so ashamed. We did the judging last night. There were 18 of us voluntary judges. I had the sad occasion to view a couple guys from my club judging my favorite build... they have very critical eyes. I did remember to take my glasses. We worked in three man teams and had to avoid judging categories in which we had entries. Our three man team had lots of entries in historical figures, tanks, planes, and ships. So that limited us to judging Mecha, Sci-fi, fantasy figures, Gundam, and civilian cars and trucks.... All of them categories I have never built a model in. For me modelling is all about history and guns. No gun, no fun.
GusMac
You'd have thought with all that schlepping up and down Alps that the Gebirgsjager wouldn't have such pencil legs?? Or maybe it's just very baggy shorts! 😕 1
