Getting closer to the painting stage!

used AK extreme metal to replicate the heat burned cowling rings. These were not copper, but the heating caused the steel to turn colour. (As per Cees)

Great work on the collector rings Jeroen.

Can you please confirm the Extreme Metal  colour you used? I can only find Burnt Metal and Pale Burnt Metal in their range here in Australia. I am assuming it is the latter colour, lightly applied?

Regards,

Kent

Thnx! It’s AK484 burnt metal.

Indeed, lightly appliedEBFB0B32-01EF-4056-BC71-A03282B9AC1B.jpeg

Cut out and sanded all the resin CMK bomb doors. These are far more accurate than the trumpy ones. And less work than the eduard ones...

And first paint is on! Black with a hint of grey to tone it down. Slowly building it up...

This is such a cool aircraft.   Not ugly per se, but goofy and complicated in a way a you’d expect from Rube Goldberg, yet it worked incredibly well.  A modelers dream.

A super tough design, used from the very first right to the very last day of the war, and all but forgotten today.
