Lately we've seen more and more 16 scale kits being build here. A lot of them are produced by Takom, whose Chinese (Japanese) Tankette I built lately. It was an enjoyable experience and I just found on Scalemates, that two more 16 scale kits are supposed to surface this year.

The Jeep is made by Takom and the video shows it with engine and figure, nice touch.

The other kit is from Andy's Hobby Headquarters and it's still in pre production status. It's a M4A3E8 Sherman in 1/16.

Cheers Rob

I cracked and pre-ordered the Jeep. 64 bucks shipped seems pretty reasonable for such a large kit, so I couldn't resist spending money I haven't made yet on something they haven't made yet....

Hopefully, I will pay this one off by the time the E8 Sherman comes out for preorder......cuz that one will probably get me too.

I was surprised to see this today on The Modeling News. Both the scale and subject

are unexpected. Very cool!

What a shame I would have bought a 1/32 scale version in a heartbeat but not a 1/35 scale kit.

Cheers

I’ll be unashamedly in the camp of the moaners and complainers. To summarize my feelings : WTF ?
1/35 is already a weird, « in-between » scale in itself. But to apply it to a WWII torpedo bomber that will in 99.9 % of the cases never be displayed near an armoured or utility vehicle is just preposterous !

And I will repeat myself: if you think 1/35 is an inconsequential difference to 1/32, I hope you will rethink about it with this simple math truth: a 1/35 aircraft occupies 76 % of the volume of the same in 1/32.

I can bet this will become one day a business study case : «  How to minimise the ROI of a good idea »

End of the rant.

Great subject but I'll be also taking a pass, due to the kit being in 1/35 scale. I can understand why they did their Stuka in 1/35 but haven't bought it either due to the scale.

Hats off to to Border for bringing another kit to market irrespective of scale. We would all bemoan the fact that there were no new subjects or products.

But the question remains: why 35th scale? Other forums, much larger then ours, the overall response has been very negative and 'not going to buy' strictly based on scale. I would be very interested in a response from Border as to why their choice of scale.

Agree. Especially since it's a subject that hasn't been done to death! I would like to see

more Japanese subjects including early or inter-war  stuff. The scale doesn't bother me

so much as I don't have many other aircraft to display it with.....it wouldn't look out of place! But ,then again, I Did build a 1/18 V1 flying bomb!

Ppl that complain about scale obviously don't want to build the model very much.  It's one thing when what you want is in a ridiculously tiny scale.  But a small difference like that...   meaningless.  Really...
