Really really love them, have been coveting these for a long time. These are the cheaper end of the market at around £17.00. The beauty of them is the part doesn’t “ping” off across the bench, literally just falls away. The cut is square to the part so you can go as close as you need, clean up is very quick. There is no vee cut as with conventional cutters. The max cut is 3mm, I’d never push them that hard. The blade does look fragile but man it’s sharp. Phil Flory of Flory Models compared them very favourably with the Dispae set. The Dispae set is maybe double the money and having to work on a budget at present these were the ideal buy. Haven’t used the others but very very impressed with these Trumpeter Master Tools ones.........

Yeah, I hear you there, Phil..... I did 'splurge' on the Dispaie ones, as I don't or haven't ever bought any real nice tools, so I thought I would treat myself, and yes the trumpeter ones are VERY good...... I do like mine a lot as well....

The Trumpeter ones work really well for the cost. What I've found is that each brand seems to have slight variations in blade shape and some work better in certain situations.

Some have a thinner profile so are easier to get into tight spaces. Others are a bit longer so can cut a larger piece of sprue.

Dspiae has changed their blade shape and is currently on version 3. I've got Version 2 and 3.  They've also sold them under the Meng brand so may/may not be cheaper that way.

The Dspiae ones are on the left and middle. The Trumpeter is on the right.

My original Dspiae ones (in the middle) I broke the tip off from dropping them. To make them usable, ground off the the unbroken tip and made them equal length. Now they're usable but only for shorter cuts.

I also have a couple of the Wave single edge cutters. These are great for really tight spots due to the way they angled the blade. Again, just don't drop them...

Harv, they are awesome, like Phil mentions............. I bought two of them, one set is a Dispae, and the other is a Trumpeter one, both are fantastic.............. I asked Carl if he thought they were worth it and he was the guy who convinced me to buy them... I'm very glad I took his advice... they make taking small brittle part off the sprue very easy and comfortable, but as Carl mentioned, apparently don't drop them .... and Yeah, Phil, let us know what you think full on... I love mine..

I'd second this. The Dspaie cutters are the best modelling purchase I've made in a long time. They go through any plastic like butter and you get a beautiful smooth cut with no crushing at all.

I use the Meng incarnation of the cutter since a year now and yes, I like the sharpness of it's blades, but can't find mayor advantages to  my Tamiya cutter. One thing, I especially don't like about the Meng is, that sometimes with fragile parts the sharp of the two blades got stuck into the plastic and there is a risk of breaking the part while removing it.

Cheers Rob

I just picked up this model product from Thunder model; it's in 1/35 scale and is,for me, a subject matter

for a kit I've never tried before. Or even thought of making. A railroad boxcar! Anyway, it looks like a pretty good kit. I was surprised by how well it was package and the quality of the molding. It looks like

it may, for me, be challenging build. The subject might even be considered a little controversial for some. It's a model of a German  Gedeckter Gutterwagen Gr 15t ww2 boxcar.

That is a cool looking kit, and a neat idea......  if there is any controversy, just put some straw in it, with some cattle..... or some horses..... always good to learn new stuff about accurate rail road air braking systems.... cool stuff...

Hope to see your build soon. Anyway, this is one of three aircraft models in my stash. I have two

Trumpeter wildcats, but I've heard these aren't the greatest kits. Years ago I built the 1/32 scale Revell wildcat and I'm certain that the Trumpeter kits might be better. I will probably buy the ICM versions

of the Polikarpov I-16 in 1/32 scale and I would like to build the Special Hobby Brewster Buffalo in 1/32

scale. You might notice a trend here---- I like stubby, or otherwise barrel-shaped aircraft.

Don't feel bad. I have a Wildcat too. Have had it forever. I also have a ton of AM for it also. I do want an ICM 16. LOVE IT.....harv

Oh, I think I'll eventually build one of my Trumpeter wildcats, maybe both. I hear someone sells a resin

replacement firewall for this kit that solves some of the issues with the kit. I forget who makes it now.

I looked it up a while back and, of course ,in common with all things I'm interested in buying, it was

out of stock.

Don;t think I've ever seen a dio for those...  except for the ones they used on the TV show....   I like it.

I had ignored this HGW kit because I'd heard it had the Eduard 109 in it...  But when I heard it was the Dragon kit, I rushed to find one.  Apparently they're getting harder to find.  Still in the cellophane.

Most of the PE and resin is ship model stuff.

HGW had them in-stock back in October. I picked up mine from them for 20% off then.

I think it's pretty much the only way to get the Dragon kit currently at a reasonable price.
