  1. A couple exterior changes were made to the Liberator when it was used by the RCAF. They included the removal of the upper turret and the ball turret getting replaced with a radar done. Profimodeler make a resin radar dome. It replaces the kit belly insert. The master was 3D printed but the lines from the layers are sadly very evident. Plus it was warped and didn't fit that well. I decided to modify the kit part instead by filling in the ball turret opening until I got the right size opening. I then cut the dome free from the resin panel. This will fit in from behind and I'll ultimately have less putty work to do.
  2. While working on the CF-18, I took a look at another RCAF project I've wanted to do and one thing led to another. The RCAF flew a number of Liberators in Coastal Command colours from Atlantic Canada. One of them had a shark mount on it which later morphed into a more elaborate lions head. When the Hobbyboss B-24J came out, I figured I get I'd they ever did decals for it which DK Decals duly did. The kit: The decals: The AM: I'm not going to to try fixing the wing or the nacelles as that's just way beyond my paygrade. Plus I want to actually have a chance of finishing it.
  3. Looks great Peter. Are you doing the ususal three color scheme? Carl
  4. Ok, first step in my RCAF Liberator. Filling some of the excess holes in the fuselage. At least there will be two less turrets to deal with.
  5. Looks good there Mark and good news on your wife too. Carl
  6. It's a nice airbrush. I think you'll like it a lot. Carl
  7. Harv, I agree with @belugawhaleman and would not bother with the Neo. I have one and it's an entry level airbrush.
  8. Mark, hope your wife is feeling better. Take care and we'll wait to see you back at the bench when things are more normal for you. Carl
  9. Glad to see you back at the bench John. Off to a nice start too. Carl
  10. Tom, Thanks for the info. Just to make it more difficult, I'm doing an RCAF GR VI in Coastal Command colours. Carl
  11. Looks great Tom. I've been fiddling with my B-24J kit so your update is nice and timely. Quick question for you on the interior. Was the later J still in the dark dull green or did they switch to interior green? Carl
  12. Looks good with the sidesteps. Now just needs a Hemi...maybe with a supercharger too Did you see the new 10 litre V8 Chevy announced today?
  13. They do. I've ordered from them online before, just never been to their store.
  14. John, I didn't get it as the P-39 hasn't really interested me that much. Heresy I know. . If you are interested in getting it, let me know and I can pick it up for you or any other member here. Carl
  15. The funny thing is I never went as they usually just have paints listed. Only recently have they started adding kits. So I think it'll be worth checking out more often.
  16. I've been placing the odd paint order from a hobby shop near me called Sunward Hobbies. In a recent email, they said they had some in-store specials so I finally went by to check them out. Right when you come in they have several 1/32 kits on sale. Some were package deals in bags. Some were just the kits with no AM. I saw a couple and grabbed them. First up is the hard to find Kinetic F-86. It came with some AM including the equally hard to find Avionic resin 'pit. Upon opening the box, I also found Golden Hawks and stencil decals from Leading Edge. Definitely a bargain at $100 CAD. Next was a Hasegawa FW-190 D9 The bag it came in was pretty full: Plus Theres a few more bagged specials including a Kitty Hawk OV-10D with two Big Ed sets and SAC gear in it for $200 CAD and a Special Hobby P-39 for $80 CAD also with the Big Ed set. Here's the P-39 And the OV-10 If anyone on here wants either of those, let me know and I can try to go back later this week and get them for you. Carl
  17. Stopped by for the first time at a hobby shop near me. This is what they had on the shelves: Yeah, I think they have primers and thinners in stock.
  18. Get better John. I stopped by a LHS and saw this and immediately thought of you. Carl
  19. Thanks Mark! Might just have to pick that up. Looks fun enough. Carl
  20. How is the Phoenix model Mark? I saw that at my LHS and was curious about it.
  21. Happy birthday Harv! Hope they let you have something cake-like. Carl
  22. Martin, those look cool. Not the drone but Fantastic Plastic makes the bubbleship. https://fantastic-plastic.com/oblivion-bubble-ship---catalog.html
  23. Martin, there are lots of cool mecha kits on the market. Kotobukiya and Bandai make a lot of them. Here's my Metal Gear Rex And GUNHED. Both are from Kotobukiya.
  24. Lucas put them in there for his kids. Rob, the Bandai Star Wars kits can be addictive. Just be careful if you use any enamel washes as they have been known to make the plastic crumble. Carl
  25. Harv, take it easy. Sorry to hear about the new heart attack. Glad it was minor. You got enough scars on ya if you're anything like me. Rest up, enjoy the reading and looking forward to you getting better. Carl
