  1. Is it IM? Would love one but not sure I can justify the cost.
  2. A hotel close to here has a bar which is a giant fish tank, all glass, so I don't think the termite would find it very tender!
  3. Just caught up with this. Sincere condolences to you both Ernie. I dread the time this comes closer to home so I hope you are both holding up.
  4. Sad news. Hope the casualties are low but it doesn't look good.
  5. Very cute Carl. He does look a little timid there but if he's been fighting off that mob above I can't blame him.
  6. Swedish splinter schemes for me. Another reason I'd sell my soul for a 1/32 Viggen!
  7. Thanks guys. You're on the money Rob - the Greeks really don't seem to mind how tatty some of these things get. I've seen pictures of derelicts which look in better condition than some of these A7s towards the end of their careers. Just making a start on the panel line washes at the moment.
  8. Hi Rich, No problem I'll try and get some better close-ups as I progress (probably slowly) with this. Having seen your scratch built vehicles on here I can imagine that soft detail would drive you mad!
  9. You're not joking Rich. At least the tyres on the kit are pretty reasonable quality.
  10. Okay, this is what I started when I've been bogged down on the Greek SLUF. Something completely outside my comfort zone. Last truck I built was the old Airfix Bedford QL gun quad back as teenager in the early 80s. The Meng one was just a bit pricey - this was less than half the cost - and it gets reasonable reviews. Plan is to build it as a Greek one carrying a AMX-30B as the colour scheme looks quite cool. I have the Meng kit for this. So progress thus far has been making a start on the trailer. Fit so far has been good and virtually no flash. BUT given the company relationships it seems that HB employ the cousin of Trumpy's 'mad rivetter' - the 'crazy ejection pin guy'! Not the best picture but it gives an idea of how visible some are. Even better, they're not all sunken, some are proud, some are half and half. All the more fun and to keep you on your toes!
  11. Right, haven't updated this in a while as I pondered how to approach things. Firstly, I procrastinated a bit by moving on and doing the appendages. Eduard MERs and Videoaviation Mk82s all of which have had some oils applied and are just awaiting weathering. The external tanks are done to match a pic I've seen of the particular plane I'm doing where it's carrying one older faded tank and a brand new one in a different camo pattern. Oil fading used to dirty up the areas which seem to get grubbiest. Radar cover chipped to look like the worn fibreglass. Arrestor hook and camera glass painted - need a bit more work yet! Decals on and oil dot fading done then another gloss coat. Very few stencils used as one advantage of these worn birds is that virtually everything has been painted over or obliterated by the wear and tear. The oil dot fading looked better before the gloss coat which seems to have removed some of the effect. I'm hoping it will reappear after the dull coat or otherwise I'll have to do some more. Inspiration has been sporadic on this as I couldn't get the fading 'right' to my eye but I'm hoping now the panel line washes, etc will go a bit quicker. When motivation was low on this I did start something totally different just to get the smell of glue in my nostrils again. I'll show it in it's own WIP. As usual, all comments, suggestions, etc welcome.
  12. Yep, can't beat those 2 for a good dose of surrealism.
  13. Yeah, Alfa built good looking cars but they were a bit unsuited to our climate shall we say! That colour is just so evocative of UK car colours in the 70s.
  14. I'll rack up another vote for A-model. Bought a DH Comet kit to build with my son a few years back and it was total junk. Warped, badly moulded, covered in flash, etc. Ashamed to say we just binned it. Neither of us had any inclination to persevere with it.
  15. Mr Levelling thinner also works well with Mig Jiminez's Ammo paints and speeds up drying slightly compared to the proprietary Ammo thinner. In my experience Vallejo just doesn't airbrush well with anything but that's just me. Great for brush painting but I leave it at that.
  16. Congrats to both as has been said above, stunning builds. Agree on the Corsair too - the weathering on the flaps especially is just stunning
  17. That last one looks like the bastard love child of an Argosy and a Condor. Fugly!
  18. Maybe he picks up the rubbish (and the odd cyclist) on the move?
  19. Nice Rob. Was the DS the version with the 'hydrogas' suspension? Remember them as a kid as there was nothing else that exotic on UK roads. British Leyland's speciality was functional and rust-prone rather than exotic!
  20. How quickly do you get yer eyesight back after a few shots of that Ernie?
  21. Brilliant work again Peter. If that is 'incorrect' then all I can say is that you set yourself rather elevated standards!
