Martinnfb Posted October 28, 2018 Author Posted October 28, 2018 Flap actuators are fairly visible, so I slapped them in real quick 6
Martinnfb Posted October 28, 2018 Author Posted October 28, 2018 I know, not the cleanest job, but better then nothing. There is this one thing about Dauntless, the rivets. There are not all rounded, not all the same size. It is very apparent on this picture of the tail section. I was originally considering re-punching them with beading tool, but looking at this , I have to reconsider my approach. 6
HubertB Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 The problem is you can spend 2 HK Lancasters worth of Archer rivets if you want to reproduce the raised rivets of the 1:1 SBD ... Hubert 4
Peterpools Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Martin Perfect photo for sure Keep ‘em comin Peter 3
Martinnfb Posted October 31, 2018 Author Posted October 31, 2018 Preliminary coat of light grey, sea grey and deck blue stain, just that ugly clear plastic and get some idea about depth before riveting. 8
harv Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 WOW. Think you should leave it like that. I like the look.....Harv 3
Martinnfb Posted October 31, 2018 Author Posted October 31, 2018 Let us not get too excited, there is going to be zinc chromate and brushed steel in place when the time comes, but first I have to fix the damaged panel lines and re-punch all the pesky rivets. Harvey take it as a way of priming. 4
DocRob Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Stunner, I have to agree with Harv, leave her that way, love the look. Cheers Rob 2
Wingco57 Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Won't it be a problem to weather the decals too and consistent with the whole airframe? Cees 2
Peterpools Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Martin Awesome for sure Keep ‘em comin Peter 1
GazzaS Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Everything looks great, Martin. Just looking at the stab , I'm doubting I would ever have the dedication to do that. Gaz 1
DocRob Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Thanx Martin, for helping me opening my purse and buying me a Trumpy SBD-3, yeah the dreadful clear edition, but the price was right . Because of that purchase, I searched my picture archives again and found some pics of a SBD-4 from Yanks Air Museum in Chino California. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/5907-sbd-4-dauntless-yanks-air-museum/?tab=comments#comment-76582 Cheers Rob 4
Martinnfb Posted November 17, 2018 Author Posted November 17, 2018 Thank You for posting the pictures Rob, fantastic detail, I can start with riveting of the cowling all over again 2
DocRob Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Sorry for the delay, I knew I had pictures, but couldn't find them the first time, because I searched in my Pensacola folder and didn't remember that there was a SBD in Yanks. Cheers Rob 2
Martinnfb Posted November 17, 2018 Author Posted November 17, 2018 No need to be sorry, i am super thrilled that you post them, so grateful. Again thanks for sharing Rob, much appreciate that. Cheers Martin
