  1. I got home from work today and Sue said: "What big-a$$ model did you get this time?" This was in the front hall: Looks like my case order of Dr.1s have arrived. Just kidding. I haven't bought a Meng Dr. 1 yet. I'll let you all know what's in it once I get it open.
  2. The cockpit looks good there Harv. With all the horror stories around the fit of Aires stuff, glad this one seems to be ok.
  3. Nice start there Rob. Yesterday morning I had a Niva with European plates pass me on our street. It had white steelies and looked absolutely pristine. Nah, he just makes the rest us look bad is all.
  4. Looks good indeed. I really should get back to mine and finish it.
  5. Yup!
  6. Looks great there Gaz. I broke down and bought the recent Takom kit after arching your build. Just waiting for it to arrive on the slow boat. Carl
  7. I finally did some work on the Scammell. Which wasn't actually on the Scammell itself. I sanded and then varnished the base. I used a water based varathane for that. It's now dried so I can start on the landscaping bit. Here's how I'm thinking of placing the Scammell: It's more or less centred on the board width wise. Or, I could move it slightly to one side and possibly add a Jeep with maybe the crews conversing? Or would that be too busy and crammed? Or me just biting off more than I can chew? Definitely the latter for sure.
  8. Looks like someone solved the power issue in the Niva: https://jalopnik.com/watch-this-ls-powered-lada-niva-smoke-an-audi-rs6-1845706225 Edit: here's a link to the video. It's running the 1/4 mile in under 10 seconds. They definitely are like a Niva in that regard. I've even considered importing one to Canada. As long as it's 15 years old, you can bring it in here.
  9. That's an awesome gift Rob. Please do a WIP when you start it. You could get Ladas here in Canada up until the mid '90s. I remember the Niva as a bare bones 4x4 that could handle just about anything you threw at it. I never got to drive one but did drive a Suzuki Jimny back in 2006 while in Tobago. It was very similar to the Niva in its simplicity. And lack of power. Still was a bunch of fun though. Carl
  10. Bill, it's the Bronco 1/35 Type XXIII U-boat kit. Don't know why but I've wanted one for a while and finally got one recently.
  11. And all done on the Jagdkitty: I think I'm good with the one railcar. Made for a different presentation. Unless of course, these were delivered by railcar... Yup, it's also 1/35.
  12. John, hopefully you'll from Dana as I'm looking to do a couple FAA Corsairs at some point. Carl
  13. Ok, here what the instructions say: And in Aircraft Pictorial F4U-1 Corsair Vol 2, she's a Goodyear built Corsair IV or FG-1A. I can't find if she should have the standard US pilot harness or the British Sutton one (similar to the Spitfire). My guess is that it should be the Sutton harness which Tamiya includes on the PE fret.
  14. I'll check my set when I'm home in a couple hours and see if there's any info. Carl
  15. Cool project. Both the 1/24 and the 1/1. RP Tools makes a jig that helps you bend wire into matching handles. Might be worth checking out. Carl
  16. Congrats on the wins. Lovely builds especially your approach with the Mig. Carl
  17. Well, I finally finished something. Or at least I'm almost there. I just have to decide on the gun barrel. If I use a later two piece barrel, I'll still need to camouflage the tank. It'll end up looking closer to the one I built previously. Or I can use the earlier single piece barrel and leave it in the dunkelgelb its currently finished in. I'm leaning towards this option as it'll look different from the other one and we'll, I'll be pretty much done.
  18. Gus, thankfully Zoe has always gotten along with cats. Even before I had cats. The cats came with Sue. Our other cat is the Alpha in the house and it's always funny to watch Zoe defer to Fursnake. Sunny is a much more cuddly cat and likes sleeping with Zoe.
  19. Ok, just looked it up in Dana Bell's book. He says the Corsair IV could be either a -1A or a -1D. So that answers that. Carl
  20. Nice choice John. I've got those in the stash. I'm planing to cut and paste them into 115 from Formidable. One thing though, it's a Corsair IV which I believe would be a -1D instead of a -1A. Maybe double check which one? Carl
  21. Awesome work there. How to make a crashed planes look like art.
  22. Meanwhile, someone's keeping me company. Or someones I should say.
  23. Thanks Harv! Been working on it a bit tonight. Got some weathering done.
