ScottsGT
I just bought another Colt tonight online. It’s the baby 1911, the .380 Govt. Model in stainless. I’ll post a pic when I get it. Had one years ago (took my CWP qualification with it) but a friend talked me out of it only to have it stolen by a parking valet. What’s bad was he didn’t notice it was gone until a few weeks later. I forgot I already had an image from an email with the seller. 🤣 1

GusMac
Looks great to run there Mark. I'm lucky here too, as within 500 metres I can be out in the fields and away from civilisation. Much more fun than slogging round the streets all the time.

Well did not win that one the auctions were going for stupid values. The Fr8 was expected to go from 300/500 I had 650 plus auction fee, shipping and transfer at 650 would of made it $800 something only time would bear out a recuperation. The rifle went for $700 to an onsite buyer if I kept bidding how far?All I can say is a French Mas expected to go for 400/700 sold for $1400 a rifle I think is butt ugly. The auction yielded every single rifle I had on a watch list -1 all went for 50/100% above the stated values or expected ranges of purchase.I am staying away from the auctions till things calm down but makes me think I could sell much of my collection last time I looked 25/30K worth for 50K but could not replace it like I want in this market. 1

I have been using it for about a year now, you can monitor your progress and the progress of your friends and motivate each other. I am slowly getting back to running after my tendon injury. I get annoyed watching people running with headphones in as it's the quickest way to an accident I can think of. After 40 years of running I can still judge my pace to within 10 secs per mile without any bother. Bugs the hell out of my wife though.... 😉
KevinM
My FR 8 1951 I have a sling and bayo inbound. The rifle I would say by the dust in the hidder has not been shot in 10/15 years maybe longer dry and dirty.I took the girl apart today soft brush on a dremel in some areas to polish and remove rust/grime and cleaned up the stock someone had varnished it.So i used some easy-off washed/scrubbed her and reapplied water in some dings and heat gun next raised about 70% of the dings.I will start applying lind seed oil tomorrow 3

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted March 25, 2022 Administrators Share Posted March 25, 2022 Interesting piece, Kevin. I’ve never really been a huge fan of the Mauser action, simply because I was spoiled in the SMLE. But Paul Mauser’s 1898 action sure set the standard for the next 120 years now, didn’t it? Me, I just found this, a 1903 Colt .38 auto loader. As you can see, it’s the daddy to the ubiquitous M1911 Colt, although it shares little in common. 38 ACP is a dead caliber, so I need to hand load each and every round using 38 Super as a starting point. I think it’s gonna be mostly a conversation piece, but we’ll see I suppose. The only drawback to me is that it’s been refinished, which to me is a HUGE negative, but it’s pretty and fills a big hole in my collection of useless pieces of antique junk. 4
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted March 25, 2022 Administrators Share Posted March 25, 2022 This is completely out of my comfort zone, but it’s a unique piece of old world craftsmanship. A factory scoped triple barrel Drilling combination 12 gauge shotgun and 9.3mm rifle. A version of these was the standard WW2 Luftwaffe survival gun, which in itself is amazing, because this is one serious top quality handmade Old World piece. 4

Yep, it’s a shooter. Not a safe queen. The issue is 38ACP rimless. It’s as rare as 44 rimfire. Nobody makes it anymore, so it’s just working some magic on some 38 Super, which is pretty tough to find in its own right. Then again, it’s not as bad as trying to feed a Nambu. Absolutely NADA out there. Although you’d need a bag over your head around my place if you showed up with a Nambu. Good grief those things are hideous looking.

I will see if I can dig the place up off of the other memory stick but I have had ammunition made for my .32 rimfire 1905 Winchester. I put in the order and they later got with me on how much I needed https://www.buffaloarms.com/ammunition/black-powder-ammo/non-metric-calibers/17-35-caliber.html

I liked it and hand loaded the 8mm cartridge using Midway brass. It performed beautifully.

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted March 28, 2022 Administrators Share Posted March 28, 2022 Anything Mauser is a solid, dependable piece. I have a 7mm Spanish and a German 1898 (K98). Both are solid, accurate, and absolutely dependable. I have also a Type 99 Arisaka in 6.5, and it’s a nice rifle as well, although it has a really sort pull, which puts my head in an awkward spot. But nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats the British Lee-Enfield SMLE for a smooth, non binding action. Those, in my humble opinion, are the sweetest shooting vintage bolt rifles there are, period. Just like the old Packard slogan: “Ask a man who owns one”. The Nambu is one ugly mutt, but yeah, it’s some seriously reliable

KevinM
Not really a hobby persay but it is slowing me down on the F-86 ATTM.I built my shop all by myself(90%) for the most part and most of the shop is treated lumber spare the door, fire dams and the sheathing OSB under the Hardy Plank and even that was treated with Copper Tox from the ground 4' up for termites. The little bastards hit the door again this will be the third frame and second door! The doors run minimum of $180 in my area steel with wood on the edge for the hinges this was a No Go this time I decided to build my own.I stopped off at Dedeaux Clan has all kinds of woods locally and p/u some Aromatic Cedar $175 worth. The door will be standard 1 3/4" thick on the edges with a 1" solid core it's coming along well the whole frame will be treated also this go round Frick these bugs.
