GusMac Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 The plate for the base looks amazing. As James says, that PE looks insane. Rather you than me. I get mad just with a set of etch seatbelts! 1
DocRob Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Wow Jeroen, that is looking great. As usual with most of your builds you seem to be covered in brass and CA . The bomb bay looks to be a real challenge, shame that you will have to take a dive to see all the detail once the plane is finished. The plate with the applied photo will be an eyecather. Cheers Rob
Michaelscarborough Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 You inspire me, Jeroen. I'm changing eras and am about to start my first WWII build in ages....with a cockpit FULL of PE. You may be getting some questions from me! The base is going to be a very impressive and moving object. Bravo for your artistic sensibilities honoring those who were lost. Cheers from NYC, Michael 1
Wouter Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 OMG Jeroen, you really like to torture yourself with that PE... impressive stuff! Love the printed aerial picture, it's gonna be a model/memorial to cherish when finished. 1
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted July 14, 2018 Administrators Posted July 14, 2018 Wow Jeroen, your PE work is outstanding and inspiring. And I was complaining about the PE needed in a B-25! Now here you are doing 10x the work, and in quarter scale no less! Hats off, Jeroen, hats off! The Wimpy has a very special place in my heart. My ex Father in Law was an RCAF Lancaster tailgunner, but he trained in and flew his first several Ops in the Wellington before converting to Lancs. He had much fonder memories for the Wellington than the Lanc, and often told me that it was a very good thing the Lanc had four engines because with only two, they’d have done plenty of walking. this is a subject we sorely need in 1/32 4
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted July 18, 2018 Author Administrators Posted July 18, 2018 Hi Clunkmeister, Thnx for your reply. The more i work on this model and dive into its operational history the more respect i get... here’s some more progress: and here with some paint: weathering to follow. Followed by the floatation bags and a few bombs. 3 or so... 9
wackyracer Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 What did you use to 'glue' all that pe in place. Superglue? I only ask as I have real problems getting PE to stick to one another. 1
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted July 19, 2018 Administrators Posted July 19, 2018 Jeroen, that bomb rack looks amazing!
DocRob Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Nice brasswork, Jeroen, it's a shame to cover all the PE with paint. Must have been a lot of bending, but worth it in the end. Cheers Rob
RichO Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I have a new name for Jeroen. I'm going to call him "Bender" Great job! 2
Peterpools Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Jeroen Just catching up and am thoroughly amazed at the brilliant detail PW work and detailing throughout. Following with great interest. Keep 'em comin Peter 2
Bomber_County Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Jeroen. Like Peter just catching up on your build. Jaw dropping ............didn’t even realise there was a 48th of a Wellie..... good shout about the second pilot seat. Really interested in doing one, living where here in Lincolnshire lots of history. Be rest assured I will not be throwing a quarter of the AM as you have. Congrats on a fabulous build, looking forward to an update. phil. 2
Members Mikester Posted August 7, 2018 Members Posted August 7, 2018 You stud! If you had a bald head you might supplant Jimbo as my hero! 3
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted August 14, 2018 Author Administrators Posted August 14, 2018 Here you go! The bomb bay completed. All the air bags installed. In placed two 500lb bombs (should actually be phospohr bombs for this plane, but this looks better. The bomb tails were replaced by PE from Eduard. 6
rkranias Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 your reference to history is always a joy to witness. oh, and your build is coming along quite nice...just a tad. 2
Peterpools Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Jeroen Bomb Bay looks spot on the money Keep 'em comin Peter 2
Bomber_County Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Seeing this Wimpy, gives me an idea. Have been mulling over the idea of the Tamiya Lanc in 1/48. Yes I know it’s of an age. But, the Wimpy in 48th would be sweet ..........a Stirling in 48th would be sweeter. No I think the Wimpy will fill that void..... 2

No I think the Wimpy will fill that void..... I really is a great kit out of the box. What Eduard has done is beyond anything i've ever seen in photo etch. This is the only 48th scale kit I'll tackle and am only doing so because a 32nd scale kit is unavailable and the background of the crash near my house compelled me to build one... 4
Jeff Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 I'm really late to this party......................... outstanding build, and sad, but incredible history..... watching with much interest.....
Members Mikester Posted August 18, 2018 Members Posted August 18, 2018 That looks great, requires way too much patience for me though! 1
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted August 18, 2018 Author Administrators Posted August 18, 2018 Sneak peek! The black resin structure is the main wing spar from photo etch. 4
DocRob Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 Amazing skills and finish, Jeroen. You should leave her that way. Love the PE-work and can only assume the patience needed. Cheers Rob 1
