I love the scheme Mark, great work. Lot's of times, I thought about a Swedish splintered 1/48 Viggen, but lack the cojones for the camo.

Those floats remind me of my Shelf of Doom queen. An Aichi Hansa (a HB W29, built under licence in Japan, with a Hispano engine), that I started in 2008, before WingNut Wings existed ;) . It’s still waiting for me to finish it …

Now that you mention it, drag her out and do a WIP. It's such a beautiful plane and specially in the rare version you've chosen. There is actually no risk, that WNW will release your version to spoil the fun.

I'm right with Rob about starting up a build thread for all of us to follow and enjoy.

Thanks guys.
Sometimes, as it looks at me from the top shelf, I have got an itch to restart it. But then I think I should redo the wings, as I now feel the ribs are too pronounced, and let the itch pass… I even bought, and later resold, the WNW kit with an idea that maybe … I actually felt quite proud that I got the shapes « right », at least comparing my scratchbuilt effort to WNW’s kit… Or maybe they used the same base drawings as I did, and this would bust a myth that their research was outstanding ;) … You should have seen my drawings, on an A3 sheet, drawn with technical pens 🙄 …

Well, to answer Peter's unanimous demand, I found some pics of the time ...I still have to find the drawings, though...

It's totally scratchbuilt. Missing are the pics of the scratchbuilt Hispano and of the 4-bladed prop I carved ;).

I hope you like it.

I liked it.  How did you get that opacity with the squiggles?

Sorry for the late reply. Been working my proverbial off on the farm this week.

I sprayed Vallejo RLM 76 highly diluted with Vallejo flow improver at about 10psi.

I'm simply blown away - incredible work - of which I could never, ever do. I can only imagine what the engine and prop look like.  The assembly jig blows me away as well, allowing you to build and locate the floats and then rig them. I just can't imagine how you put all this together as your game plan. I surely tip my hat ... masterful work

Well... I just got a new job, I did a month in Philadelphia at the Leonardo Factory for a type course on the AW139, and while I was there my wife took care of the move, unfortunately for us, the mover is now holding our stuff in a different city because they can't find a "trailer" or "container" to fit the stuff on. what should have been delivered 2 weeks ago is still another 2 to 3 weeks away according to them. This sucks... Projects I want to work on, are held hostage, but  I WILL have a new fancy modeling space, if only I get my shit...

Anyway, this is not a negative nelly post, I DID find a couple kits at Megahobby in New Jersey! (Nothing LARGE though!)

Okay, so thanks to Jim fixing the picture upload issue I'll now have to show how bad my figure painting (and photography) is!

This is as good as I'm going to get these and they look better in the flesh, at least from 5ft away, than they do here. My camera is stuffed so these are the best I could get with my phone.

The Alpine miniatures commander was definitely easier to paint than the Miniart figures due to the crisper moulding. The shoulder badge on the commander was meant to be the Desert Rats but I've done my best to try and approximate the Bull of the 11th Armoured.

So, next step into the unknown is on with the base....
