I started a little side project, as a mojo refueler. It's an Eduard 1/48 F6F3 Hellcat almost oob, beside the juicy Brassin engine and some HGW wet transfers.
As always, surgery first, I cut the cowling panels according to the resin substitutes and cleaned all the resin engine parts. For panel cutting, I used my new razor saw and I really don't know, how I could have lived without one. There is nearly no sanding necessary after cutting and the cuts are so precise and fine, I could use the removed parts as a substitute again.

Cheers Rob

This is the saw, a normal razor saw, made by JLC. The box includes a spacer set for scribing parallel lines with a second blade. This type of saw, is perfect for resin cutting and straight cuts in plastic and will be useful for my future wooden ship projects too. An inexpensive tool, where I can't say today, how I could have lived without.

I added a small mitre box by the same company for precise profile cutting.

Tig welding machine issues resolved .

Cracked pelvis healed nicely.

So I tig welded the oil tank for the chopper. Leak testing proved to be a test , 6 leaks  , 5 from whoever built the tank and one from my work.

Sealed up and ready for final finish:

lol

When I worked in the custom Harley industry here in B.C. I would have had no trouble designating the tank as crap.

It barely pass' even the lowest standards. Every time I go to leak test it there is a new crack or hole or crackhole. Mostly around the filler neck , which is the worst part, I have actually cut it off as it was not getting better. The bung will be welded to a square patch to go over the cretinous 'welding' f c ing things up.

But it is made and it fits , now , and is completely invisible under the tranny.

With a wrinkle black finish the flaws will be pretty much unseen.

Here is the chopper which is turning out to be a mixed bag of tricks:

Note that this has never actually been a bike , never inspected , certified or insured , never seen the road. This is a very loosely asembled bunch of parts that was immediatly dis asembled.

lol

Thanks, guys. Those are kit decals for the IP and radar electronics. A lot of small decals; I was pretty pleased with how they turned out.

I continued with the 48 scale Hellcat and built up the Brassin engine. It has lots of parts, Resin and fiddly PE. Not all went well, but in the end it will be ok enough. I also started with some painting and PE-ing in the cockpit area. The printed PE does not look to good, but seen through the tiny canopy it will work. I want to emphasize on the paintjob with the Hellcat and not so much on the pit.

Cheers Rob

Gracias Amigos, I closed the fuselage on the mediocre cockpit, but I didn't want to spend more time on it. The engine is only loosely fitted by now, lacking some of the exhausts.

Cheers Rob

Stunning Rob, you’re right about the pit, with 48 scale, you can only go so far and there has to be a point where you say enough is enough.......

Working on this: A Soviet Voroshilovets  tractor in 1/35 by Trumpeter.

An excellent kit, with great detail and very good fit. So far it has gone together

quickly; I started it Saturday afternoon and I'm nearly ready for paint and final assembly.

I have a set of Fruilmodel tracks for this model and they look pretty good. Anyway, here

is a picture of it so far. Its mostly dry-fitted in the picture.

Hassy P-40

pleased with the wing roots but f*ck me it's tedious clean up on the tail section and behind the canopy (panel lines which should not be there)

Won't be doing another one of these in a looooong while
